“I get drunk by accident too,” Hannah jokes, and her mom swats at her.

“Hannah, you could learn a little responsibility from your brother here,” Sarah says, and I bite down hard on my lip to keep from laughing.

“Oh my god, you have got to be kidding me,” Hannah mutters, shoving Dylan away when he nods in agreement with what their mother just said. “You owe me for keeping my mouth shut. I could—” Dylan puts a hand over Hannah’s mouth.

“Take it easy there, sis. I’ll make sure to put in a good word for you at Somerville’s if you keep quiet. No one needs to know what happened before Tessa.”

We spend the rest of the night talking and laughing. It feels so good to have our families so supportive and encouraging. Welcoming this baby is going to be the highlight of the year.

When everyone leaves, I let out an exhausted sigh, leaning against Dylan as he slips his arm around my waist.

“Tired, babe?” he asks, kissing the top of my head.

“Yes, the lead-up to that was stressful.”

“You had no reason to stress. You have no reason to ever stress about us. For the rest of your life, I will be here to take care of you and our little family.”

Who would’ve thought that this is where we would end up when we started hooking up all that time ago? Certainly not me. But I wouldn’t change it for a thing.

“How about we go to bed, and I give you a massage?” Dylan suggests, and I’d be a fool to turn him down.

“Perfect.”
