"Can I sit?" i ask, gesturing to the couch.
"Yeah."
She sits all the way on the other side of the couch, getting as far away from me as she can. She's just as beautiful as she was before I left, maybe more now because my memories of her did nothing to match her true in person beauty. She's wearing a long t shirt and tights.
I make sure i 'm not ogling her for too long, the last thing I need right now is for her to think that I'm only here because I want to fuck.
"Go on, truth." She waves her hand and I scoot forward trying to figure out where to start.
When I don't start talking right away She lets out a heavy sigh. Her patience is short and I can understand why.
"Okay, here it goes. It's going to be hard for you to hear but I swear to you everything I'm saying is the truth. Up until yesterday afternoon, I was a Federal agent."
her eyes go wide and I quickly continue, "I wasnt here for anyone in your family but I can't disclose who the mark was. I snap my mouth shut trying not to get too far off topic. "Anyway, I knew if I stayed with you I would have put you in more danger than you were already in so I did what I was trained to do, I cut everything off.", that's why I said those awful things to you not because I wanted to but because I needed you to believe that I was able to let you go. " She doesn't say anything for while and I assume its because she doesn't believe me. "Look I know it's far-fetched and there';s not much information.--"
"You work for the DEA, and you took down Dimitri." She says calmly and its my turn to let my jaw drop.
"Yes... how did you figure that?"
She rolls her eyes and looks away, "My brother had someone there, there were pictures taken. I saw you in the photos. I knew you couldn't be working for him so police officer or DEA were the only two options."
"Oh goodness, Sabine, I'm so fucking sorry. I was trying to make sure you didn't go down with everything else and your family. I was trying to get Dimitri and the fucking cartel off the street, and I was trying to still hold on to you. It's just not something i was able to do. I never met to hurt you. I'm so sorry."
She looks down for a long while and I let her have her time I don't want to push.
"Trey, I don't know if I can forgive you. I understand there were outside forces at work, but what you did... I can't just let that go."
"I know, I know it's going to take time maybe but please just let me try. I love you too, so much. I'm sorry it took me this long to say it."
She lets out a small cry and it's more than I can bear. I move over to where she is, and I pull her into my arms, where she comes willingly. I kiss and touch on her while she lets out her pain.
After a while I hear her stomach growl.
"I'm not going to push, but would you be okay if I stayed, we can eat pizza and watch a movie?"
She gives me half a smile and nods her head.
I kiss her forehead again and pull her close to me, not wanting to let her go.
I'm going to spend all the time I have making this up to her. , I'm just so happy she's giving me even the smallest chance to do so.
