I've never been morethrilled in my life for anything.
I count my blessings every morning that I wake up and still see Sabine sleeping right next to me. She's been going at her own mace and there's still so many questions that she has, but she's allowing me back in her life. She told me she loved me again last night and I told her over and over just how much I loved her too. We had a few conversations about how we would proceed and even though I'm ready to run in the direction of an exclusive committed relationship, she still has her reservations.
Even with our relationship still on the fence, I don't regret leaving the DEA at all. In fact I've decided to start a new business, and now I want to get Sabine's opinion on it. If she's not okay with it than there's no reason for me to even continue looking anything up. I'll figure something else out. Something that she'll be happy with.
I walk into her club, it's early, so there's not many people. I see her walking around behind the bar, looking like she's counting something. I'm sure she's doing some sort of inventory. Even though I can see the bump clearly now that I know it's there part of me is worried that other people won't see it and not know that she's pregnant. I don't want something to happen to her or her try to do more than she can handle simply because she's being stubborn. I realize there's now way that she's going to leave work early, though. At least not this early in the pregnancy, so I just have to watch out from her from the sidelines.
I get closer to the bar ,"Hey babe." I call out to her, and she smiles when she sees it's me. I love that I can at least still get that reaction out of her. I don't deserve her, and every day I realize it more and more.
"Hey, I wasn't expecting you yet." She furrows her brow but she comes out from around the bar and looks at me. "Everything okay?"
I nod and put my hand out so she can come towards me. Yeah, I wanted to talk to you about something. "
The smile on her face drops off, but I bring my hands to her cheeks and kiss her. "Not bad, all good news. All good." I don't want her to worry about anything. I'd never stress her about anything again if I had my choice.
"Oh, okay." She shrugs and then pulls me in the direction of the VIP room. upstairs. The same one we first had sex and I realized she was going to be someone I could never get away from.
She closes the door and comes to sit with me on the couch.
"What's going on?
"Well, I know we were talking about me and you spoke about me and my retirement. I know I can't just stay home and sit on my ass, so I was thinking about a few different things that I can do. I called my buddy Marcel, he worked on the force with me, and I asked him about maybe starting up my own PI agency. Apparently, with my credentials and my experience, it'd be something I can easily do. I just wanted to run it by you to see how you felt about it. .
"That sounds like a good idea, very smart. " She smiles, but I can sense a little hesitation, "So would you have to go back to Georgia for that or... how long."?
"No." I grab her hand and pull her closer to me, "I'm opening it right here. I'm not going to have to go anywhere I don't want to go. You and I are going to be in this together. The reason I left the DEA is because I couldn't stand to see you hurt. I love you, Sabine. All I want is to be where you are. If I can help a few people along the way. Find a cheating husband or a lost cat, cool. I just wanted to make sure that you knew I was serious about starting a new life here with you. I want you to be with me completely. "
She pulls back, "Trey, we talked about his, I still need some time before I say I'm completely committed in this with you. There were a lot of things done that can't be taken back. "
"I know, and I accept that. I'll give you the time but I’m not letting you take. this on alone. I intend to be here for you and this child forever in whatever capacity you allow me to be. "
She sighs and drops her head down on my shoulder. "I love you so much, sometimes you make it hard for me to think. "
"You don't need to think Sabine. all you need to know is I love you. Do what your heart tells you to do. I know it's been broken in the past, but I'm promising you I'd never do that to you again."
She sucks in a soft breath, and I lift her face, so I can kiss her. I'll try my hardest to take away the pain that I've put there.
She kisses me deeper and before I realize what's happening, she's straddling my lap the same way she'd done the first time I came up here with her. My body reacts right away, but I don't make any forward moves.
"Sabine, we don't have to do this."
"I haven't been with her since I've been back, and just having her on me like this is enough to make me want to explode.
"I need you, Trey, please." She says while she runs a tongue along the seam of my lips.
The last of my control snaps and I kiss her back, tugging at her clothes, trying to get back home.
That's what Sabine is to me. Home.
