When he thought about all the society girls and models he’d passed the time with, he cringed. No wonder he’d never connected with the women he’d been dating. He never cared to. An evening or two out on the town, a long weekend here and there, and countless charity auctions had been his routine. Several times, he had been the prize on the auction block in the name of a good cause. He’d met a few one-night stands that way. He had fun and enjoyed his freedom. Monogamy hadn’t been his thing until now.

“I can’t believe no one has claimed you already,” Sammy said.

“I could say the same about you.” He kissed her temple, breathing in the scent of her shampoo. “How is it that you’ve been single all this time?”

“I told you, I’ve been busy with school and work.”

The way she played her fingers against the skin at the back of his neck stoked the fire that had been building inside his balls all night. The past two days had been pure torture. Every time he tried to think appropriate thoughts about her, he kept coming back to how receptive she was in his office. Once he got her to let go, she was incredible. There was a vixen inside her waiting for him to unleash everything she was capable of.

“I’m glad you’ve been so busy.” He released her hand and lifted her chin. “Now I get to be your one and only.”

“What are we waiting for?” Her warm breath tickled his lips.

“I’m waiting for you to tell me you want to go home with me.” He glided his mouth along hers. “I want you to tell me you’re ready.”

“I was ready when you picked me up tonight.” She licked his bottom lip. “Take me home, Tyler. I want to share your bed with you.”

“Fuck,” he whispered against her mouth. “That’s the hottest thing anyone has ever said to me.” He took her hand and led her off the dance floor and through the crowded ballroom.

“Shouldn’t we say goodnight to your family?”

“No.” They escaped through a side entrance and around to a line of cars waiting for the guests to leave. “We need to go, right now. I want to be alone with you.”

Chapter 7

The gala may have beenover, but the night was only beginning. Sammy wriggled her hands as she and Tyler rode the elevator to his apartment. He lived in the same posh building as Coda and Spencer. She watched as he punched in an access code to get to his floor. Coda had done the same the other day when Sammy had gone with her to pick out a dress.

“Relax.” Tyler took her hand in his. “I’m going to take good care of you.”

“I’m okay.”

“You’re nervous.” He pulled her to him, leaning down to press his lips to hers. “You don’t have to be.”

“I want to be here with you.”

“I know you do.” He smiled, but that fierce intensity remained in his eyes. “You’re safe with me.”

“The way you look at me makes me think otherwise. I think of Red Riding Hood and the wolf.”

“Is that really such a bad thing?” He trailed his lips along her jaw, lingering at her ear when he spoke. “I want to do things with you...” His warm breath vibrated down her neck. “To you...”

Holy shit!

When the elevator doors opened, he guided her to a small sitting area with a set of double doors. He punched in another code and the doors automatically swung open, allowing them entrance to his apartment. As Sammy took in the space decorated in warm tones and brown accents, she didn’t understand how anyone could refer to it as an apartment. Her place was an apartment, but this was a house. It had a foyer, stairs, and a large living area that led to an open concept kitchen.
