“What wouldhehave done with my impatience?”

“Martin?”

She nodded, still not comfortable with calling Martin sir.

“Each situation is different, but if you were his submissive, he would not have rewarded you with sex. If he had, he would have been the one to release, not you.”

“I was too stimulated. I wouldn’t have been able to hold off.”

“If he threatened you with a whipping bench, you’d have a different mindset.”

“Oh.”A whipping bench?Would Julian allow Martin to whip her? That would have to be a hard limit. “I’m not sure, I mean, he won’t...”

“He’s not going to do that to you,” he reassured her. “That type of punishment would be up to me, and we’re not there. I’m not sure if we ever will be.”

“You want me to learn control.”

“It’s my hope that you will, but I’m not in a rush.”

“It helps having this room.”

“What do you mean?”

“Maybe if we reserve most of the harder play for when we’re in here and use your bedroom for lighter stuff, I’ll be able to get in the right frame of mind.” She thought for a moment. “Does that make sense?”

“Perfect sense.” He pressed his thumbs into her shoulder blades, releasing the tension the cuffs had created. “Most of what we do when we’re playing will require you to be in a certain place. I’m impressed that you realize that. I thought that was something you would figure out once we started our sessions with Martin.”

“I’ll need to prepare my mind for our time at his club. I’m hoping I can do that.”

“I’ll help you.”

“Can we shower now? I’m getting tired.”

“Of course.” He moved to stand in front of her, helping her off the table. “Take your time getting up,” he instructed. “I wouldn’t want you to fall.”

“You’ll catch me.”

“Always.”

Chapter 4

Julian sat at the bar, sipping his scotch as he gazed out the windows of Sapphire. It had been a few weeks since he had been there, but his life had moved in a new direction. Being Blake’s silent partner gave him more time to enjoy with Kayla. He had been so busy at the firm since the first of the year, he hadn’t had much time to spend at Sapphire anyway.

“Look who it is.” Blake joined him at the bar. “To what do I owe the honor?”

“Just checking on my investment.”

“You could have done that on a computer.”

“Financially, yes, but maybe I miss my cousin.”

“Ahh, how sweet.” Blake smacked Julian’s back. “You do know your presence here creates controversy.”

“What do you mean?”

“When word gets out that you were here, a rush of applications flood my office the next day. Everyone thinks you’re looking, and I have to disappoint tons of prospects.”

“I feel for you.” Julian downed his drink. “Really, I do.”
