“Of course not.” Julian stroked her cheek. “You were perfect.”

Kayla steppedout of the playroom and headed toward the lounge area off the bar while Martin and Julian discussed the session. She’d taken a few minutes to calm herself and reflect on the time they had spent in the playroom. It may not have gone very smoothly, but she would learn what was expected of her.
As she made her way to the lounge, she saw a tall blonde with full makeup and perfectly curled hair heading in her direction. It couldn’t be.
“Julian wasn’t enough?” the blonde asked in a snide tone.
Connie. What the hell is she doing here?
“Excuse me?” Kayla couldn’t believe her ex-friend was at Martin’s club. What were the chances?
“Master M too? I don’t know how you do it. Maybe that innocent act works with these experienced, older men.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” Kayla tried to push past Connie, because she didn’t want to deal with her.
Kayla hadn’t seen or spoken to her since that awful night when she walked in on Connie naked at Julian’s feet. Kayla had quickly realized that Connie had set it up and wanted her to think Julian was cheating. Connie was no friend of hers, and Kayla never wanted to see her again.
“Get out of my way,” Kayla demanded.
“You’ve been in that room with both of them. I’m sure you weren’t playing cards. How did you convince Julian to bring in a third?”
“I didn’t have to convince Julian to do anything. It’s none of your business what the two of us do. Why are you here anyway?”
“Now who can’t mind their business?” Connie placed her hand on her hip. “Don’t you have enough going on?”
“Whatever, Connie. I hope you find what you’re searching for.”
“How can I when you steal everything from me?”
“What have I stolen from you?”
“You insensitive bitch.”
Kayla opened and closed her hand, trying to stave off the urge to slap Connie.
“I took you to Sapphire. I’m the reason you ended up with Julian.”
“As my friend, you should have been happy for me, but instead you tried to seduce him, offer yourself to him, when you knew we were in a committed relationship.”
“Committed.” She laughed. “Then why are you here? Why would your boyfriend allow another man to touch you? That doesn’t seem very exclusive to me.”
“Get out of my way.” Kayla shoved her, but she didn’t budge.
“Is there a problem?” Julian came out of the playroom and stood by Kayla’s side. “What are you doing here?” he asked Connie.
“I don’t have to answer to you.” Connie’s defiance was obvious.
“No,” Martin said as he joined them in the hall. “But you will answer to me.”
“Oh, um, Master M, I didn’t, I mean...” She took a deep breath. “Kayla and I are old friends. I hooked her up with Julian.”
“That’s hardly true.” Julian placed his arm around Kayla’s waist. “Connie was asked to leave Sapphire after an unfortunate incident. She caused some unnecessary problems between Kayla and myself.”
“That has nothing to do with me being here,” Connie said. She looked at Martin. “I was just surprised to see Kayla here with you. I mean, knowing she’s with Julian.”
“What I do behind closed doors in my club and with whom is never up for conversation. I will never be questioned.”
