“Anything.”

“Take your clothes off and get in this tub.” She flipped around and got up on her knees, the bubbles evaporating, leaving her exposed to him. “I need to feel you.”

“Who am I to deny such an enticing request?”

Chapter 6

Julian gazed out the window of his Manhattan office, thinking about the only thing in his life that seemed to matter these days. He smiled when he thought about his beautiful Kayla. She grew in her submission every day. He saw a more confident and sensual woman. He’d been lost before she stormed into his club. Becoming more restless as the days went by. There was a reason he couldn’t settle down. She had been the missing piece. Now, he couldn’t imagine taking this journey with anyone other than her.

A quick knock on the door took him from his thoughts. He turned to find David Crowley, the senior partner of Crowley, Madison, and Anders, coming in. Dave didn’t seek Julian out often. He’d been talking about retiring the past two years, but had yet to do it.

“Do you have a few moments?” Dave asked. “I know you’re busy.”

“I always have time for you, but it’s not often you check in on me.”

“I don’t have to check in on you.” He widened the door, turning back and motioning for someone behind him. “I have a surprise for you.”

“Do you?” Julian stood and came around his desk just as Dave’s granddaughter made her way into the room. “Angelina.” Julian should have figured she’d be paying him an office visit soon. “How lovely to see you.”

“You don’t seem that surprised,” Dave noted. “Did you know she was back from our California office?”

“My cousin Blake told me he ran into Angelina.” He couldn’t elaborate any more than that.

Angelina smiled as she leaned in and kissed Julian’s cheek. “It’s really good to see you. I was going to call you, but I’ve been settling in. I’m still getting used to the time change.”

“Did you get tired of the West Coast?”

“It was fun, but I’m a New York girl.”

Did that mean she was staying? Julian wouldn’t mind as long as she could keep things strictly business. But since she’d already gone to Sapphire looking for him, he had an odd feeling she wanted to mix in some pleasure. He’d have to make it clear from the beginning that anything other than work would be out of the question.

“Angelina is coming back to this firm. She learned much in California.” Dave beamed at his granddaughter. “She still has a way to go, but I have confidence that with your guidance, she’ll do just fine.”

“My guidance?” He hadn’t seen that coming.

“I’d like for you to mentor her. I’m thinking she can assist you on your cases. I know how busy you’ve been lately.”

Hell no.“I like being busy.”

“Angelina can help lighten your load and learn in the process.”

“With all due respect, I work alone. Angelina, you’re a great attorney. I saw so much potential in you when you got out of law school.”

“You were always commenting on my potential.” She subtly licked her lips. “Always telling me how much I pleased you when I assisted you with whatever you needed. I’d like to pick up where we left off.”

I bet you would.

“See,” Dave said. “This will work out for both of you.”

“I’m really eager to work with you again, Julian.”

Her blonde hair had gotten longer since the last time he’d seen her. It was lighter too. Probably from the California sun. She’d always been an attractive woman, but she’d matured over the last year. She stood taller and had a confidence about her he hadn’t recalled before.

“Remember how well we worked together last time?” She gazed into his eyes. “You taught me so much, but I know you have much more to show me.”

Shit!

“Perfect.” Dave headed for the door. “I’ll leave you two alone so you can connect. Julian, Angelina will do whatever you need her to do.”
