The Hunter Organization weren't searching for him to hurt him; they had the royal's warning to consider, but Dorian asked for their help when he kept catching me staring at my scar.

He knew I was worried about Isaac, and even now, I was absentmindedly rubbing it, and I realized that was what Diana was looking at.

I had a feeling they all had some kind of pact to keep an eye on me, Dorian, Nikoli, and Diana. Killian was back at work, so he wasn't around, but no doubt he'd be in on it too if he was here.

They thought I didn't know, but I didn't mind it.

"Are you okay?" Diana asked, and I nodded.

"I am," I answered truthfully, and she reached out and covered my hand.

"You're thinking about him, aren't you?"

I nodded. “I am.”

"You know, I'm a little jealous that you have another best friend," she rolled her eyes. "I don't like it, but he saved you, so I'm not too mad."

I laughed. "Don't worry, you're still my favorite girl."

“The only one since Isaac’s a man, don’t be slick,” she snatched her hand away but laughed. “I still can’t believe so much happened in just a month.”

"Tell me about it," I grumbled. "It felt longer than a month, but I got enough excitement to last me several lifetimes. I'm good."

“You better be,” she shot back when my phone started to ring.

Dorian called me every two hours when we were apart, and because his voice was so damn sexy, I didn't mind.

"Marian, you're dress is already boxed. Don't leave it!" Carla called, and I nodded.

“I’m not leaving, just taking this call.” I made my way outside and answered. “Hey, honey.”

“Hi, beautiful,” Dorian answered. “How’s dress shopping?”

"Good, I got the lilac dress, and Diana and Hope are getting a few things made. They'll be back next week to pick them up," I glanced at Golden Sailor and frowned. I couldn't get them to feature some of Carla's dresses, but that was fine. I'd tell as many people about her as possible. "How's your day going?"

“Good,” Dorian answered. “We’re almost finished with setting the foundation.”

They were adding another section to the pack house, and I couldn't wait to see how it turned out.

"I'll leave in an hour to get you guys, okay?" Dorian said, and I pulled my phone away from my ear when a chainsaw went off.

“Okay,” I shouted. “I’ll see you soon.”

I turned my back to Golden Sailor and almost dropped my phone. Isaac was standing by a tree on the pavement beside the curb. He smiled as I stared at him and heard Dorian calling my name.

“Huh? Dorian, sorry, what did you say?”

"I said I love you," he repeated, and I nodded. I couldn't believe he was back. Isaac was back.

“I love you too,” I mumbled distractedly, and Dorian hung up.

My legs started moving, and soon I was running. I ran into Isaac's arms, and he hugged me tightly. He was safe, alive, and looked like himself again. My days of worrying were done.

"You're alive," I said with relief, and he chuckled.

“Of course,” he replied. “How are you?”

I released him. “I’m okay. Where have you been? Are you okay?”
