“I won’t. I mean, I might, who the fuck knows?”

“What was your yearbook thing again?” Brooke asked. “Most likely to…”

“Doubt Love,” Mia and Emilia answered at the same time.

“Did you guys look them up or something?”

“We did,” Mia chuckled. “After the girls night where you all helped me about Jack, we poured over our fake yearbook.”

“Alternative Yearbook,” Annie corrected. “So we’ll let Emilia do all the, ahem, questioning with Cameron and just cheer her on, I guess.”

“That’s so big of you Annie, thanks.” She smirked when she said it, but Emilia knew it was true. They’d always let each other walk their own paths, supporting each other in the best possible ways. Maybe she could have told them about everything she’d been going through sooner and she could have gotten out of her funk quicker.

Sitting there, laughing with her friends, Emilia thought back on all the stuff she’d been forced to process over the last three months, from the trauma of her childhood to the rejection and how crushed she’d been. How awful it had felt to read those words and how much lighter she felt now after talking about it twice in three days. And maybe it hadn’t been a funk at all. Maybe it had been a growth spurt.
