She still had so many questions, but they were running through her head too quickly to put them into words.

It just wasn't something to discuss now.

But she had a feeling if she ever went to Cameron in the future and asked them, he'd be more than willing to answer whatever she came up with.

"And—" He flashed her a grin. “My car has never run better since you came back. You’re not just the good choice, you’re our best bet.”

He patted her on the shoulder, obviously not expecting anything from her right then, and headed out.

She watched him go, feeling a little pride that yes, his ’72 Mustang did run better than since she’d moved back.

What was a girl to do when she discovered everyone she thought had let her down, had had her back?

She couldn’t wrap her mind around it, so instead she went upstairs to get lunch ready for Tyler.

And to continue avoiding Cam while she readjusted all her thinking.

Cam

Cam hadn’t anticipatedhow much he would need to consider when moving to a different country. The fact his invite came about an hour after he sent the email was flattering to say the least.

He had no idea how long he’d be there, but he suspected it would be quite a while.

He wasn’t stupid enough to say until Vivian was out of his system because he assumed if he came back, even after years, his heart would still ignite at the sight of her.

He doubted there’d ever be anyone else for him but her. But he also knew he wasn’t someone to marry for anything less than this fierce love he felt just at the thought of her.

That might mean being alone for the rest of his life which nearly knocked him over with a sad pang. He thought of his parents and how they’d been together for what seemed like forever. How they were a couple and best friends and a team.

He’d always pictured himself having that one day.

Maybe he was wrong. Maybe as he aged andhechanged, he’d find that since he and Vivian hadn’t grown into something together, he’d find something else that made him love like he’d hoped to grow into loving Vivian.

But he doubted it.

Glancing around his workshop, he figured there were a couple things he’d want to ship to Scotland. There were tools that were fit to his hand and no loaner or new version would be worth the hassle. He didn’t want to give up everything he built just to get away, regroup, maybe find a new way to mend his heart.

The workshop would be closed. He’d already made a list of things that need to happen.

First on the list was to finish that darn bowl for his mother.

Everything else would have to take care of itself.

But some things would not take care of themselves. And he was not looking forward to this part.

He locked up his workshop and headed over to his parents’ house.

There had better be cookies after all the stress of the day.

Reaching the door, he heard his mother and father laughing together in the kitchen before he went in to join them. It reinforced his decision. He was doing the right thing, and not just for Vivian, but for himself. There was no way he could live a happy life always being on the outside with her and having to be careful about his words and his actions. Maybe even how he looked at her.

Because she had asked him, in sincerity, to back off.

And so, because he loved her, he had to.

"Hey!" His mother turned and smiled at him as she handed his father another baby tomato plant. "Look who's here, and it's not even mealtime."
