Meadow

ASHTON AND I HADbroken things off and I wasn’t okay. I was antsy and on the verge of calling him up and telling him that he was wrong. He wasn’t. But I was bored. I had done all the baking I could for the day. I ran out of weed and didn’t feel like going to get some more. Especially because it was pushing ten at night and the person I usually got the weed from didn’t live in the safest of areas. My dad would kill me if he knew where I had to go to feed my addiction.

Maybe Ashton had weed.

No. I could not go there. Not again.

He was fun. A friend. That was all. He needed to move on and so did I. But God did he know his way around my body. Maybe he didn’t and it had just been awhile for me and I was satisfied by anything. It wasn’t the case, but it was possible. Maybe?

I pinched the bridge of my nose, clearly losing my mind.

A light knock sounded on the door to my bedroom.

I frowned, rushing to open it and finding my sister staring back at me. “What’s wrong?” I asked her, stepping out into the hall.

“Are we still going out for drinks?” my sister, Gigi, asked, hope dancing in her honey colored eyes. While she got our mother’s tall slender frame, I was short and curvy.

“Oh, sure. I didn’t think we were still doing that.” Our friend, Luna, had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend. The tension rushing through our house was thick. Everyone had gone their separate ways after said boyfriend punched the shit out of Ashton. But even in his bruised-up state, he was still hot as hell. I really needed to get it together.

I had never actually been attracted to Ashton, who was a twin. His brother, although hot as well, didn’t do it for me. But when Ashton was giving Luna and her man, Zach, issues, I stepped in because, what are friends for? I had no idea in the beginning that this thing with Ashton would continue. I had assumed that we would fuck once, and he would move on to his next conquest. He did but kept me beneath him just the same.

“Ashton took Luna to the hospital.” Gigi shook her head, a deep frown settling between her brows. “I can’t believe Zach elbowed her.”

I scoffed. “No kidding.”

Although Luna shouldn’t have tried to break up the fight, I probably would have done the same thing. React first and think later. And now she possibly had a broken nose because of it.

“Where’s Piper?” I asked Gigi as we left the house.

“She’s meeting us there. I was thinking we go to a bar that’s not in our city.” Gigi stopped in front of her car. “Sound good to you?”

I shrugged. Didn’t matter to me either way. I just wanted to get drunk and find someone, maybe even two someones, to curb this itch.

“What’s with you?” Gigi asked, narrowing her brows at me from the other side of the car.

“Nothing.” I slid into the vehicle, buckled up the seat belt, and stared out the window.

She sat in the driver’s side, turned on the car, and paused. Her stare burned into the side of my head.

“What?” I demanded, my head whipping around.

She laughed, putting the car in gear and backing us out of the driveway. “You know, you never should have started fucking Ashton in the first place. It’s messing you up.”

“No, it’s not.” It wasn’t. I cared for him. Of course I cared for him. All of us had grown up together but Ashton couldn’t give me what I wanted. I wasn’t sure if anyone could.

“It really is,” she insisted.

“Oh, and you know all?” I threw back at her. “So, tell me, Gigi. How’s Vince doing? Did you two fuck yet? Or at least actually talk?”

She glared at me, her jaw ticking. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Right.” I turned back around, staring out the window. “I love you but until you both get your heads out of your asses and admit your feelings for one another, don’t judge me for my shit.” It may have come off as harsh, but my sister needed to be told. Vince Junior had been her crush for years, but he was only nineteen. Even though he was turning twenty in the next few months, it didn’t mean anything. He was still five years younger than her and that stopped her from making a move. Or so she said anyway. Something had happened before he went off to school. But none of us knew what that was.

“Fine, don’t need to be a bitch about it,” she mumbled.

I laughed, shaking my head. “So, where are we going?”

“Some bar in the city. It’s actually near Zach’s condo. I thought it would be best to go there just in case Luna needs us for anything.”
