“Not yet but if you don’t figure out what’s going on with Tanner, we’ll have to,” Aunt Sara said.

I let out a sigh. “That’s fair I guess.”

“Just please be careful.” Aunt Eve held me at arm’s length. “Okay?”

“I will.” I gave her a quick hug before hugging Aunt Sara as well. “Thank you.”

“Always, sweetheart.” Aunt Sara passed a glance at Aunt Eve. “Before we go, I just wanted to point out that as much as the guys apparently don’t like Tanner, your grandfather seems to like him.”

“Probably because it’ll piss off my dad.” My grandpa had gotten used to the fact that his daughter had married an older man, but she would always be his baby girl. Just like I would always be my father’s.

“Probably.” Aunt Eve laughed. “Just be careful.”

They hugged me again and quietly left my room, leaving me to my own thoughts. I was almost tempted to go downstairs and finish what Tanner and I had started the night before. My fingers itched to touch him again. To run my hands over his hard body.

Letting out a sigh, I flopped back onto my bed just as my phone rang. Rolling over onto my stomach, I reached for my phone but didn’t recognize the number flashing across the screen.

“Hello?”

“Is this a secure line?”

“Excuse me?”

“Do you not speak English? I asked you a question. Is this a secure line?” the deep voice repeated, slower that time.

“Uh…as secure as can be I guess.” I didn’t use burner phones. The only people I talked to on the phone were Lori and Heather and even then, it was few and far between. We were texters or we video chatted on Facebook. Other than that, we didn’t really like talking on the phone.

“That doesn’t answer my question.”

“Well for one, I have no idea who you are and two, who talks on the phone anymore?”

The man chuckled. “True.”

“Who is this?”

“A friend.”

“Right,” I said slowly. “What do you want?”

“I need you to do something for me.”

“I think you got the wrong number, buddy.” I left the room just as Uncle Greyson was coming up the stairs.

“Nah, you see, I don’t. I happen to know who’s staying at your house. Although, it’s not your house, now is it? You still live with mommy and daddy, but you like to stay at your uncle’s from time to time. Isn’t that right?”

I swallowed hard, flagging Uncle Greyson down. “Who is this?”

The permanent scowl on Uncle Greyson’s face deepened as he came toward me. “Hand me the phone, Bee.”

“Yes, Bee. Hand him the phone.”

My heart started racing but I did as I was told.

Uncle Greyson stuck the phone to his ear. “I’m listening.” His face reddened, his jaw clenching.

I wasn’t sure who was on the phone, but it was obviously someone who knew about Tanner. He knew things he had no right knowing.

Suddenly, Uncle Greyson handed me back the phone. “Bee, follow me.” He spun on his heel, stomping back down the hall from where he had come from. “I don’t suggest making me tell you again or Iwillgo to your father.”
