Her cheeks reddened.

I sat back, mentally patting my own back at putting that flush on her cheeks.

Angel chuckled, rising from his chair. “No. I’ll be in the car.” He turned to me. “Thank you for the coffee.”

As soon as he left the house, I stood and went up to Gigi.

“Did he say anything?” she asked, staring up at me.

“What would he have to say, Queenie?” I asked, my voice low. I reached out, brushing my thumb along the length of her jaw.

A notable shiver trembled through her. “I don’t know. I’ve never had a guy here before. The twins don’t count.”

I leaned toward her, running my mouth along the shell of her ear. “He threatened me. Said some things. Gave me some tips.” I kissed her cheek. “Same old.”

She leaned back. “He threatened you?”

I winked, pulling away from her. “Have a good date with your family, Queenie. I’ll see you later.”

Before she could respond, I left the house and jogged to my car. I gave Angel a wave and slid into my beater of a vehicle, driving away with a smug smile on my face.

Gigi

After almost having sexwith Vince that morning, I couldn’t get him out of my head. Not that I could ever get him out of my head anyway, but now it was worse. There was just something about him that I craved. I often wondered at first if after he went away to school, there had ever been other women. But since talking to Luna and Meadow, a sense of satisfaction slid over me that there hadn’t. Even though the rumors said that he had some psycho exes. Now that it wasn’t true, it made me realize that I needed to break down my walls and tell him how I felt.

With his party coming up the following weekend, I knew Ashton would be getting him a stripper. It was tradition. But I wasn’t sure how I felt about someone else dancing for him. MaybeIcould be that stripper. Although, I wasn’t sure how Vince would react to me dancing in front of our friends.

He had given me a necklace so many years ago as a birthday present. It had been my favorite gift I had ever received. I wanted to return the favor. Fingering the necklace around my neck, I smiled to myself at the memory of Vince giving it to me.

I was leaving the bathroom and about to rejoin everyone out in the backyard to continue my birthday celebrations when I was stopped by Vince. He was coming down the hall, holding a small box in his hand.

“Hi.” He smiled.

My heart fluttered. “Hi.”

Even though he was so young, he was now the same height as me. I also knew that give him a year and he would be much taller and probably wider. He had that boyish charm to him and even though that were true, he still did something funny to my belly.

“I just wanted to give this to you before everyone stole your attention again.” He stopped in front of me and handed me a velvet box.

“This is from you?” I asked in awe, taking the box from him.

He nodded, standing up straighter. “I saved for it.”

I opened the box, my eyes widening at the gold necklace with a ballet slippers pendant hanging from the chain. “Oh, Vince. It’s beautiful.”

“I saw it and instantly thought of you.” He took the necklace out of the box and moved behind me.

I lifted my hair off my neck. “Thank you.”

When the chain was clasped securely around my neck, the pendant fell between my breasts. Vince’s fingers lingered, brushing along the base of my throat.

It had been years since he gave me the necklace and I could still feel his touch on my skin.

I didn’t think he even knew what it meant to me. To be that thoughtful at such a young age. His parents raised him well. And whether he ended up with me or not, he would make someone happy.

Me.

He mademehappy.
