“The guys are on it,” Sammy added. “We’ll get him and bring him to justice over the shit he pulled with Jaron, Piper, and Brynlee. And we’ll get the bastard who’s stalking your girl. We’ll end them both.”

“When Price is caught, I want to be there,” I told them, leaving no room for argument. “I don’t give a shit how long it takes. I need to watch him die.”

Both Jaron and Sammy looked at each other before glancing back at me.

“We wouldn’t want it any other way.” Jaron paused. “I just hope it’s after Piper has the baby. I can’t leave her right now.”

“Oh don’t worry.” Sammy clapped his shoulder. “If we pick him up before then, I’ll just torture him a bit until you can join.”

Before my brother could go on even more about how much Price deserved to be buried, I thought back to what Ainsley had told me about her abduction. “Ainsley said after the raid, there were some survivors like her, some of the captors escaped, and some were thrown in jail. I don’t know how many people worked at this damn place, but someone must know something.”

“I’ll see what I can find out, but I don’t know if that’s possible, Cyrus,” Jaron said gently. “The most we can do, is bring Price in. And that may be all we can ever do.”

“Why hasn’t he been found already?” I grumbled, wishing like hell that things would move faster than they were.

“Because he paid people off to keep quiet. It’s his MO. You know that. He’s a fucking pussy and can’t take care of shit on his own.” Jaron crossed his arms under his chest. “So he hires people to do his dirty work for him.”

My hands clenched into fists at my sides. I was on the verge of snapping.

“Cyrus.” Cheesy came toward us. “She’s asking for you.”

Instead of responding, I shoved past him and went back to the one person who could keep me calm.

When I entered the room, I stopped at the foot of Ainsley’s bed.

“What is it?” she asked softly, shifting her weight in the bed.

“I don’t know what to do,” I confessed, not liking the desperation dripping from my voice. I hated not having control. I hated not knowing how to avenge Ainsley.

“Come here.” She held out her arms, waiting.

My feet pulled me forward as though of their own accord and right into Ainsley’s open arms.

She wrapped herself around me, her mouth finding the soft spot at my ear. “I love you, Cyrus, but you don’t need to go after the person who hurt me. You don’t need to go after any of them.”

I shook against her, wishing I could agree but didn’t say anything because I knew if I did, this would end up in a fight.

“I can’t wait for the doctor to say I can go home with you.”

I leaned back, fisting her hair and crushing my mouth against hers.

Ainsley latched on to my hoodie, pulling me closer.

A groan fell between us. Unsure as to who made the noise, I broke the kiss and ran my thumb along the length of her jaw. “I don’t like that there’s nothing I can do. I’m not used to this.”

“Sometimes you just have to give in and submit.”

I stared at her, knowing she wasn’t referring to the fact that I couldn’t go after the fucker who stabbed her.

“If you saw any of the people again who had been with you at the brothel and anywhere else you were held captive at, would you recognize them?”

“What are you asking me?” She gently pushed my shoulder when I didn’t answer. “Cyrus, tell me.”

“If I find anyone, someone, one of those bastards, to try and get them to talk, would you recognize him or her?” There was no point in keeping my plan from her. Even though we had only known each other for a few months, she knew me better than anyone.

“Yes, probably but I don’t like where this question is headed.”

I pulled away from her and rose from the bed.
