Lucy grins. “Thank you. He is so soft, and he smells so good.”

My heart beats wildly because I would give anything to make Lucy happy and she would look breathtaking pregnant with my baby.

Esperanza watches Lucy but answers Hector’s earlier comment. “I know this is not the time to talk about this but before everyone thinks I’m crazy. It turns into a bed, and he can grow into it. It makes sense.”

Hector rolls his eyes. “Wait until you have kids and a girl. They will drive you crazy,” he tells me.

Lucy stiffens and my eyes close. Fuck.

When they open, her gaze finds mine. Leo leans against the wall, silently watching.

“Esperanza, I’ll purchase the crib as a gift to you guys for the baby,” Lucy speaks up.

“Oh, Luciana, I can’t. It is generous of you but it’s too much.”

Lucy shakes her head. “It’s nothing and this little guy needs a safe place to sleep.”

“What does the big guy say? Is he okay with it?” Esperanza asks Lucy with her finger pointed in my direction.

Lucy frowns. “Why would he need to be okay with it?”

Esperanza grins. “I hope I’m not being too forward, but he looks at you like you are the center of his universe.”

Lucy chuckles softly, not wanting to wake the sleeping baby wrapped in her arms. “We are just good friends.”

“I’m sorry for implying anything,” Esperanza says.

“You’re right, Esperanza. She is the center of my universe. You didn’t read it wrong.” I look at Lucy and her eyes soften. If she only knew she is more than the center. She is my entire universe. I would do anything for her.

Lucy hands the baby back when Aiden appears in the archway leading to the kitchen, motioning for her to come over.

“I’ll call you to let you know when they will deliver it,” Lucy says to both Hector and Esperanza.

Leo and I follow Lucy to the kitchen where Khalani, Linda, Colton and Smiley are seated at the kitchen table. Smiley sees Lucy and gets up and motions her to sit in the chair he just vacated. Prick.

Aiden motions for me to stand by the stove while all eyes focus on us. When Aiden turns around, he punches me in the face.

“Aiden! No!” Lucy shouts. She bolts up and tries to keep her brother from punching me, but he shrugs her off.

He rains punches and all I do is place my hands up to block them, not retaliating.

Like I said, Aiden acts and collects. He splits my left eye open, and I immediately feel the sting.

“That’s for keeping the fact you slept with my sister from me. The rest is for hurting her and treating her like she is one of your flings,” he roars, panting and shaking his hand from the blows he inflicted. Blood drips down my face, and I deserve every punch and the pain that goes along with it.

I try to wipe my face, but my eye is swelling up fast, and it hurts like a bitch. Oomph! He punches me in the stomach, and I push him off. It hurts like a motherfucker and I’m struggling for air. Aiden can throw down and his blows are like concrete.

“How does it feel, bitch? That is not even a fraction of the pain she must have felt losing a baby. I trusted you with her. You were supposed to protect her and not hurt her. Youpinche cabron.”

He throws one last punch to my mouth, splitting my lip.

“I’m so sorry, Aiden. I’m going to make it right,” I say, spitting blood into the sink, the metallic taste filling my mouth.

“It’s too late to make it right. She lost the baby while you were getting your dick sucked and I’m sure her love for you went along with it,” he snarls.

He’s probably right, but I’m not giving up on her.

Aiden grips my shirt in his hands and says through clenched teeth with a manic expression. “Don’t worry, cabron. I’ll make sure she finds her happiness with someone who truly loves her and doesn’t abandon her. Stay away from her, Mase. Go fuck your little groupie girls or whatever skanks you and Colton share these days. She’s not your concern anymore.”
