“No problem.”

Mase stays silent, investigating all the baby furniture and strollers in different shapes and sizes. I let him look as I walk over to a section where there is an exclusive designer room that has been decorated with white, gray, and yellow colors. The room initially caught my eye because of the neutral color pallet that could be for a girl or a boy. Whether my baby was born a girl or a boy, I would have bought everything neutral in my excitement.

I knew when looking at all the items, I wanted to be a mom. Alex said that he thought I would be a great mother and I know deep down I would try to be the best mother.

“Do you like it?” Mase asks.

“I think it’s perfect. I love the colors and the crib. It’s a little on the expensive side, but who cares? I love it.”

He walks toward the crib and rubs his hand over the comforter draped over the round frame. The crib has intricate carvings made of solid wood with clear acrylic called a pod. It looks like a piece of art and assures the baby’s safety by not getting caught between the slats.

I tell him all that I have learned and why I like every piece in the modern baby room. His brows shoot up over the price of the Fendi stroller I show him.

I giggle. “Babies can be expensive. That is just designer and not necessary. There are more budget-friendly options.”

“I think babies are beautiful. How many do you want?” he asks.

“Huh?” I’m stunned that he would ask that. It’s not normal for a guy his age to ask that question. They are usually scared and are not ready for that type of responsibility. I’ll admit I was scared at first but when I heard the strong heartbeat inside of me, I knew right then I wanted children. I wanted a family that I could nurture.

I know I’m not a “regular” teenage college student. I’m getting my education because it is smart and I want to run a business, but having a child wouldn’t ruin my life.

He repeats the question. “How many, Luciana?”

I bite my lip and then I answer. “Two. I would at least like to have two. I don’t care if they are girls or boys. I also want a dog.”

“The white picket fence too?” He chuckles.

I smile at the way he’s listening to my girly fantasies. “I think all girls want the picket fence. Just because of who my father is, doesn’t change the fact that I want the same things. I just can have it on a larger scale. The only difference is it comes with risks.”

The lady returns and hands each of us her card. “All set. Keep me in mind when you two are ready.”

My head whips in her direction. “Oh, no. I—”

“We will definitely keep you in mind,” Mase interrupts. He kisses me on my forehead. “Let’s go,preciosa.”

Chapter Thirty-Six

Mason

“Yo, Montgomery,” Josh, my teammate, calls out in the locker room while I’m gearing up for tonight’s game.

“What’s up?”

He comes into view as I’m adjusting my gear. “Is it true you and Luciana Sincere are together?”

I give him a serious stare when he mentions Lucy. “Yeah.” My eyes watch him intensely, and the look that must be planted on my face has him acting skittish. “Why?”

He shakes his head. “I wanted to make sure because I was planning on asking her out, but I guess I’m too late. I heard you guys were best friends growing up.”

I place my helmet on the bench harder than usual. “Yeah, I have known her since we were kids.”

“That’s crazy.”

Warning bells alert me I’m about to see red with his next comment. I know it’s a jab because he is interested in my girl, and I fucked up his plan. Josh is a good-looking guy and a great player on the team, but Lucy is mine.

“Oh, nothing. Must have been hard for her to watch you with all those females. She must have been attracted to you even then. Friends turned lovers and all that. I never pegged you for a one-woman man.”

Now I’m annoyed. “Watch what you say, Josh. Jealousy isn’t a good look on you.” I get in his face. “Touch her or go near her, and I promise you will eat your food with a straw.”
