“Are you ready for next year at Hillside University?”

Alex and I convinced Linda to take Mase’s offer of paying for the rest of her education. She is a year ahead of us and was hesitant. I think it has to do with the way she bickers with Colton. Khalani encouraged her to accept because she wants to see her move on and be happy. She deserves that. She is still hurt over Ramon’s death but she is so young and can do so much more with her life.

“Yeah.”

“This house is amazing, Lucy.”

“Thank you. I know you will have one just like it.”

“Yeah, if I win the lottery,” she deadpans.

“Or maybe you could snag a rich kid from Hillside,” Colton says.

“Maybe I will,” she snaps.

“We’ll see,” he says through clenched teeth.

“What is his deal?” I ask Mase when he walks up to me.

Mase shrugs his shoulders. “I don’t think he is sold on the idea of Linda attending Hillside.”

“Why?”

“He says she won’t fit in.”

“Translation, she is the only one that doesn’t want to bang him?” Khalani says. I raise my brows and she shrugs. “Just saying.”

“I need to show you something,” Mase whispers.

“Okay.”

He takes me outside and holds open the door to his McLaren. I pinch my brows and slide in.

“Where are you taking me, Mase?”

“It’s right around the corner, Mrs. Montgomery.”

Mase and I secretly wed in front of the Kings in a small ceremony. Alex, Linda, and Khalani were present too. My parents were there and so were, Colton, and Leo. They all wished us well and made me promise to have a baby soon.

Our mothers both would want an influential society-type wedding and that is not what our fathers want for us. Cartel supersedes our facade on Hillside. Mason told me that if I wanted the big wedding, I could still have it. I’m happy to just belong to him.

Mason drives us toward the cul-de-sac, and I look at him, surprised. It is the same house that has been under construction from a mysterious buyer.

“What are we—”

Two huge modern wood gates open, cutting off what I was going to say. Mason follows the driveway to a house that looks like the one I picked out in an architectural magazine. I gasp.

“Mase, who lives here?”

“We do. I had the house you showed me a long time ago recreated and built by the best architects.”

I place my hands over my mouth. “Mase.”

“I always planned on marrying you someday. You are my best friend, the mother of my children, and my wife. I love you with everything that I am and will spend the rest of my days trying to make it up to you. I need you to see your new home, but I have something to show you before giving you the grand tour.”

He presses the button and the garage doors open, revealing three black cars—an Escalade, a Lifted Jeep, and a Maserati Mc20.

“I took the liberty of buying you these. One for comfort, one for school, and one for protection. The Jeep is bulletproof.”
