My heart soared with happiness, and I couldn’t believe how lucky I had gotten by meeting her, having someone as special as her love me.
I returned to the hospital feeling conflicted and sad inside.I didn’t know if I should tell my brothers or my dad what my mom had said.Now wasn’t the time.I’d keep it to myself.I didn’t want to upset anyone else, and I didn’t want to cause drama, not while Sienna was still in the hospital.
I made my way down the hallways and toward Sienna’s room.Her eyes lit up as she saw me.
“Sam,” she said, yawning slightly, “so good to see you again.”
“You too.”I leaned down and gave her a kiss on the cheek.“How are you doing?”
“I’ve had better days,” she said with a wry smile, “but your brothers and Elise and Lorenzo have been keeping me occupied.”
“I’m glad.I’m sorry I wasn’t here tonight.I…”
“I heard you went to meet up with Valentina.”
“Yeah.”I nodded.
“And?”
“She forgave me.She loves me and …”
“As she would.”Sienna reached out and grabbed my hand.“You’re a really special man, Sam.And I know you’ve been through a lot, but I just want to tell you that you are the strongest, most wonderful, kindest man, and you represent your family better than anyone ever could.”
“Thanks, Sienna.I know I don’t often tell you this, but I really do love you.”
“I know.You’re like a son to me, and you always will be.So have you heard from Patti recently?”she asked.
I could tell from her eyes that she wanted to know more but didn’t want to pry.
“No,” I said quickly.I didn’t want Sienna to hear what Patti had said to me.
