“Your dad seems excited to see her.”
“He’s an idiot.”
“That he is,” she said, laughing.
She turned to the side, and I could see her gripping the sheets and blinking.It was the first time I’d seen her so emotional.I reached down and grabbed her hand.“If I was my dad, I wouldn’t be so stupid.I’d see that you were the best thing that ever happened to me.”
She looked at me, her eyes filled with tears.“He never got over her, you know?”
“He’s a fool,” I said.
“Many men are,” she said, “but I just want the best for him.And if your mom is the best thing for him, then …”
“She’s not,” I said.“She’s definitely not.I just hope that my dad sees that before it’s too late.”
“Me too,” she said softly.“Me too.”
At that moment, Stefano and Elise walked into the room, arguing, and I rolled my eyes.“I thought you guys made amends.”
“I was just telling Elise that I really don’t think it’s appropriate of her.”
Elise held up her hand.“Enough, Stefano.”
I looked over at Sienna, and she smiled, shaking her head.
“I guess my father’s not the only stupid one,” I whispered to her, and she nodded.
“I think it might run in your family.”
My phone pinged then, and I saw that Valentina was ten minutes away.“I’m going to head downstairs.Valentina’s on her way, and I don’t want her to get lost.This hospital is so huge.”
“Okay,” Sienna said with a smile.“I’m really glad it worked out for you, Sam.She is one lucky lady.”
“Thank you, Sienna.But I think if anyone’s the lucky one, it’s me.”
I made my way down to the entrance and waited.Valentina came running up to the front and stopped when she saw me.
“You didn’t have to run,” I said with a laugh as I pulled her into my arms.”
“I did.I didn’t want you to be by yourself for one second more than you had to be.”
“How did I get so lucky to be with someone like you?”
“I don’t know,” she said, blinking up at me.“How did you get so lucky?”
I started laughing as I kissed her, and she ran her fingers through my hair.
“Do you think there’s a closet we can find?”she said, whispering.
I looked at her in confusion.“What do you mean, a closet?”
“I don’t know.I’ve never had sex in a hospital before,” she said.
I growled as I squeezed her ass.“Me either, but I certainly wouldn’t mind trying.”
“Is that absolutely awful of us?”she asked, giggling as we made our way into the hospital.
“I don’t think so.I think we’re just two normal, red-blooded humans who are completely and utterly infatuated with each other.”
