I called Valentina’s number quickly.She answered right away.“Hey, Sam.Oh my gosh, I’m such an idiot.”
“What’s going on?Are you okay?”
“I’m in the bathroom at this hotel, and I was wondering if you can come and get me.”
“Um, what’s going on?”
“I’m here with Shane.”
“Okay, and …?”
“Well, he says he no longer wants to wait until we get to India.He has blue balls, and he wants to fuck.And I told him I’m not interested in that right now.And he says he’s waited long enough.He spent a lot of money on this hotel room, and he doesn’t want me to leave.”
“Push past him and leave,” I said, feeling pissed off.
“He’s not letting me.Can you please come and help me, Sam?I know it’s such an imposition to ask you this, but—”
“Tell me the name of the hotel, and I’ll be there within fifteen minutes.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’ll be there as soon as I can, and he better watch out.Because if you thought my face looked bad last night, he’s going to be unrecognizable.Text me the number, now.”
I ended the call and walked over to my brothers.
“Hey guys, emergency.I’ve got to go right now.”I looked over at Tara.“Hey, hun, it was nice meeting you.See ya.”Before she could respond, I exited.Valentina needed me, and I was going to make sure I was there for her.I was always there for the people I cared about.And even though Valentina was just a job, she meant more to me than any other woman I’d ever known.Even women I’d slept with.
And though her dad was paying me for one thing, I wasn’t just going to leave her there with Shane.Yes, she’d been an idiot to go out with him, especially after our connection.But I’d tell her off about that later.First of all, I needed to rescue her.And I needed to let Shane know that if he ever bothered her again, my fist and his eyes would make contact over and over again.
