That was when he proposed, in the middle of the class reunion, in view of Emily and her date, who was none other than Timothy.

But no one else in the world had mattered at that moment when she’d said yes.

Katrina and Lorenzo shared a knowing smile before he, Justin, and Martin got in the back of the truck.

“I’ll get the lift,” Katrina offered.

“And I’ll be inside making sure they set it up right,” Judith said.

“Babe, I hate to break it to you,” Justin spoke up, “but this is Cade’s house, not ours.”

“He needs feng shui.”

“That just sounds gross.”

“It’s the flow from properly placed...Cade, just tell him.”

“She thinks she’s setting my house up,” Lorenzo explained, and Justin laughed.

Judith dismissed them with a wave of her hand. “You’ll see. Martin, what are you doing?”

“Regretting my life choices,” Martin mumbled as he walked past her with an end table, one that Katrina recognized from Lorenzo’s tiny studio apartment.

“Wait! Don’t put it there,” Katrina heard Judith say, but her attention was elsewhere, on a little girl getting out of a black car at the end of the driveway.

Miranda had arrived.

“Trina!” she exclaimed, running over to her and throwing her arms around her.

It was an embrace that Katrina returned.

“Will you braid my hair?” Miranda asked in a rush after she stepped back.

“Just let me lower the lift first,” Katrina replied, and when she reached to do so, Miranda grabbed her hand.

“You said yes!”

“He told you, huh?”

“Mmm hmm and said I had to keep it a secret, so I did. Are you moving in, too?”

“After the wedding.”

One more quick hug from Miranda, and she was skipping her way into the house.

“Hey!” Lorenzo called after her.

“Hi, Dad,” Miranda replied with a grin. “I’m going to go see my room now. Can I have a rockstar room? With a guitar and an amp and a great stereo and—”

“A rockstar room?” he asked, his eyebrows raised.

“Yeah, like the bar, but cooler.”

“But cooler,” he echoed, an amused grin on his face. “Sure. Anything you want.”

“I can’t wait for Tommy to see it!”

“Except that!” Lorenzo called after her as she ran in the house. “No boys until you’re thirty!”
