“You heard me.” Lorenzo squeezed her hand slightly. “What’s your favorite color?”

“Blue.”

“Why blue?”

“It’s vast. Like the sky, the ocean. It’s limitless. What’s yours?”

“Gray.”

“Gray?” She scrunched up her nose. “What’s so special about gray?”

“Your eyes.”

Chills covered her at his response. “Favorite song?” she asked him, her mind fuzzy as his thumb traced a gentle pattern on the back of her hand.

“Jesus Christ Poseby Soundgarden. Hands down.”

“Still with the 90s grunge era.”

“Always. What’s your favorite?”

“Grunge?Blackby Pearl Jam.”

“All-time.”

“Hmm.” She thought for a moment as he turned towards her, his free hand resting on her hip, making her feel dizzy. “Wicked Game, Chris Isaac.”

He leaned down, his lips close to her ear. “You’re only saying that because it’s playing.” Someone back at the estate where the pool party was going on was playing this song, with an outpouring of disapproval from the partygoers that seemed miles away at that moment.

She shivered at the feel of his hot breath against her skin. “This moment is my favorite.”

“Is that so?” he asked, his lips against hers.

“Yes,” she breathed, opening to his expert touch, his kiss.

“Mmm, babe,” he growled, his lips back by her ear. “Don’t do that. I don’t think I could control myself with you.”

“So...you have?” she asked, and he paused his sensual assault on her senses, pulling back slightly. His eyes seemed troubled for a fraction of a second, full of love the next.

“Yes.”

WhenWicked Gamecame up next on his playlist, her breath caught in her throat.

“I can change it.” His voice was soft but sad.

Did he remember, too?

“No, it’s fine.” She squared her shoulders. “Okay, so...Cade’s.”

“Yes?”

“Sure you don’t want it called Cade’s Bar and Grill?”

“Positive.”

“Okay, no changing your mind. Got it. Just...would you be offended if I worked on a new logo? One that is more eye-catching than what you have on your business cards?”
