Chapter 8

The Wolf, The Vixen and Family

Nick

That day I was a little more tired than usual. It’s not like I didn’t enjoy sex with

Alyson but it was exhausting. Was sex supposed to be that exhausting? “You seem out of it big man,” Hunter said as he typed furiously at his computer. “Well, you seem extra driven today,” I said.

“Well, deadlines coming up and the company is having a meeting soon,” he replied. “The company?”

He stopped and looked at me, “Yeah the company. My company… The writing

one?”

Was that what he did again? When he said the wordcompany I visualized him doing something else. It was vague but it definitely wasn’t writing alone. It was that feeling again.

“Dude, you okay?” he asked.

“How many jobs do you have?” I scratched my head in an effort to remember something… anything.

“Well,” he turned to his computer and continued typing, “There’s this one and two others I have to submit.”

“No, not that, I meant…”

Huh? What did I mean?

“You meant what?” he turned back to me.

“Na, I was thinking you had another job besides this one… Like a corporate job and all that,” I laughed.

“Eh? What brought the conclusion?” he asked.

“For some odd reason we’ve never been behind rent and you don’t have regular writing jobs,” I said, “Plus we always seem to have good expensive alcohol. And we never lack food or anything. I don’t do much work and haven’t even gotten a paycheck and yet we don’t seem to lack.”

He was quiet, the expression he had on his face was a serious one.

“Ah… don’t mind me,” I said, “Ever since I had sex with Aria I’ve been having these odd feelings of Déjà vu. It got worse today when I had sex with Alyson.”

“Woah, woah, hold up,” he raised his hand to stop me, “First of all I have a lot of savings and yes besides writing, I do a little trading on the side. Now second of all, you did what?! Who’s Alyson?”

“She’s the receptionist and photographer at where I work and I kinda had sex with her,” I replied.

“The fuck? Why?! And you don’t kindahave sex with anyone.”

“Well, I kinda did this time,” I said, “And it felt natural… almost like I knew what I was doing.”

“Huh? That doesn’t…” he looked down, “Doesn’t make any sense?”

“I know right?” I sighed.

Wait… did he ask a question or made a statement?

“What about Aria?” he asked.

My heart stung, “I don’t know what to do exactly.”

“Meaning?”
