The door creaked open in the foyer, and Asterid’s voice called out, “Ella?”

“Tonight,” I promised, with another lingering kiss on her lips, then a light one dropped onto her shoulder, just where I knew her scar was hidden under her sweater.

“I may not be able to make it through the movie,” she said, nuzzling my neck with her nose so that our scents bloomed, but she sighed and pulled away, calling out “in here!” as she lifted herself off the couch, my hands guiding her hips, helping her to stand upright. “Rose is already upstairs,” she said, going to the doorway, speaking to the other omegas. “I’ll be right up.” She craned her head back into the living room, one hand on the doorframe, one on the swell of her belly. “Tonight, Charlie,” she purred, eyes hooded, lips tilted up on one side. “You promised.”

“I always keep my promises, Ella,” I said, and watched a soft, warm smile make my mate’s face glow.

“You do.”

I had promised her forever.

Night by night, day by day, I would keep that promise.
