Epilogue

Daisy

2 years later

“What do you think of this?”

Burke looks at the tiny onesie I’m holding up and lets out a snort. “Accio Boobies. Really?”

He takes it out of my hand, smiling. I take a second to look at him, to allow my eyes to wander over his handsome face and that beautiful, smiling mouth. It seems like Burke’s smiles come easier every day, and I’m damn near addicted to them.

“What?” he asks, noticing me looking.

“Nothing.” I brush a kiss to his cheek. “Do I need a reason to look at my fiancé?”

He shakes his head and slips his hand in mine. “I can’t wait until we’re finally married.”

“Neither can I.” I glance at my stomach. “I just hope the wedding dress will still fit when the day comes.”

Burke places his free hand on my stomach, rubbing circles over it. “For all I care, you can wear pajamas. The only thing I care about is marrying you.”

I let out a happy little sigh. Damn, I’m so in love with this guy, it’s crazy. I feel like I fall more and more in love with him every day. He kept his promise to me. He’s been working on his communication skills with a therapist, and it shows. When he’s upset, he talks to me. When I’m upset, I talk to him. We’re not perfect, no-one is, but we’re so fucking happy, the occasional imperfection doesn’t matter one bit.

I tilt my head upwards to kiss him, and as soon as our lips connect, Burke’s arms go around my waist, holding me close.

Someone behind us clears their throat, and we break apart, grinning at each other. There’s a sexy edge to Burke’s smile that makes my core tense, and suddenly, I want to be alone with him.

I take the onesie out of his hand and put it back. “Let’s get out of here. We still have plenty of time to buy our little baby more clothes than she’s ever going to need.”

He raises an eyebrow. “You’re the one who insisted we come here.”

“Well, I’ve changed my mind.”

“And why is that?”

I link my fingers at the back of his neck and look up at him from under my lashes. “Let’s just say I thought of something I’d rather do.”

A smug, infinitely male smile spreads over his face. “Let’s get the hell out of here.”

“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

Burke’s mouth is on mine before the officiant has finished his words. Our kiss lasts longer than would be appropriate, but I can’t bring myself to care. I doubt anyone here minds, judging by the loud applause and wolf-whistles.

When we break apart, Burke smiles down at me, his eyes alight with joy.

“Hello, husband,” I breathe, and his smile deepens.

“Hello, wife.” He threads his fingers through mine and together we look at the beaming faces of the people we love. Their joy tugs at my heart. How did I ever get so lucky? How am I so loved?

“Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton.” Annie envelops both of us in a hug, and when she lets go, I swear I see tears sparkle in her lovely eyes. “I’m so happy for you.”

“Stop hogging the happy couple, sis,” Stephen says, pushing past her with a grin. He and Burke hug, and there’s a lot of shoulder slapping. He lets go of Burke and kisses me on the cheek.

“You better be good to her, Burke.” Stephen winks. “Otherwise, I might just try to steal her away.”
