“Ford, put the whisky back down,” Cal demands.

“What, you gonna tell us we’re not old enough to drink?” he scoffs.

“You’re not old enough to drink.”

“And I don’t give a shit. Who’s coming?”

Eastern gets up, pulling me with him. “Damn straight. It’s been a long fucking few weeks. You in Asia?

“Hell, yes,” I say.

“Sonny?”

Sonny looks between Ford and his foster parents, then shrugs. “There’s no more than a couple of shots each left in that bottle and most of us are almost eighteen anyway. Where’s the harm? ”

“Fuck sake. Goddamn teenagers,” I hear Bryce grumble, but he doesn’t try to stop us.

Ford heads towards the door. He stops at the threshold looking over his shoulder at Camden. “You coming?”

“Yeah, I guess I am,” he replies.

A look passes between them. A look that isn’t filled with hate and distrust and whilst they’re a long way from being friends, it’s a step in the right direction.
