“You’ve got us,” Sonny says, solemnly.

“Always,” Eastern adds.

“I’d ride through hell and back to make this work,” Ford exclaims sincerely, his fierce gaze moving between me and Camden.

For a beat, the air is thick and heavy as we all wait to see if Camden is with us too. When he stands and moves towards the bedroom door, my heart plummets, but he doesn’t leave like I expect him too. Instead, he flicks the lock then turns to face me.

“Words aren’t enough, Asia. Empty promises damage us all in the end. I understand that better than anyone. We both do. So, I’m not going to make any promises. What I will do is spend every moment from this point onwardsprovingmy loyalty to you.”

He walks towards me, pulls me into his arms and kisses me long and hard. When he’s finished ravaging my mouth, he presses a gentle kiss against my forehead then turns to Sonny.

“You’re actually an alright guy. Thanks for speaking up, thanks for having Asia’s back, and for having mine.” They grip each other’s hand and bump shoulders. Sonny grins, his dimples showing.

“You’re a miracle worker, Asia,” Sonny mumbles. He’s shocked but I’m not. I knew this person was always inside Camden.

Next he approaches Eastern who gives him a wary look. “I’m not gonna lie, I’m envious of you, Eastern. I have been ever since I met Asia at that party. She stood up for you no matter the cost to her and I realised that I wanted that kind of unflinching loyalty, that kind of love. You’ve had Asia so much longer than any of us, and there’s a bit of me that can’t help but worry that no matter what I do, you’ll always take up more space in her heart because of it. But you know what, Icanlive with that because I get the feeling that owning just a tiny piece of Asia’s heart is just as good as owning it all. If she loves you like I know she does, then you’ve got to be a good guy.Friends?” Camden asks, holding his hand out for Eastern to shake.

“Yeah, friends,” Eastern agrees, a smile pulling up his lips. He takes Camden’s hand and pulls him in for a hug. Inside my poor beating heart squeezes tight. When Camden turns to face Ford, it stops altogether. He holds his gaze for a long time, then finally, breathes out slowly.

“I don’t hate you, Ford. I did for a very long fucking time because it was easier to blame you about Sapphire’s death than it was taking responsibility in the part I had to play. I was there at the club with her. At any point during that night I could have made her leave, but I didn’t. I. Fucking. Didn’t. I’m owning that shit now. Maybe one day we’ll get back to how we were, maybe we won’t, but like you I care about Asia and whatever shit we have between us will be put aside for her. From this point onwards we’re a team. Shake on it?”

Ford takes his hand. “You got it, bro,” he says.

“Well, shit! If that ain’t worth celebrating, I don’t know what is?” Sonny exclaims, grabbing the whiskey bottle from me and downing another mouthful. He offers it back to me, but I shake my head. Camden grabs it from him and finishes it off with a loud smack of his lips.

“So, what now?” Eastern asks, shifting on his feet. He’s giving me that look I recognise, the kind of look that makes me want to run knowing he’s going to catch me.

But I don’t run. Instead, I plant my hands firmly on my hips and grin mischievously.

Sonny tips his head to the side and narrows his eyes at me. “Why do you look like you’ve got something wicked planned?”

I snatch the empty whiskey bottle from Camden and bite down on my lower lip. “It’s been a while since I’ve played spin the bottle… you in?” I ask them all.
