“I’m just a phone call away, okay?”

“I know that too,” Christy replies, giving her a wobbly smile. “I love you, Kate.”

“Love you, too.”

“Well, that went far more smoothly than I’d thought it would,” Beast says, lifting his glass in the air and grinning. “Cheers to new beginnings.”

We all lift our glasses.

“To new beginnings…”

Later that nightas we make love to Christy in our room above the library, I thank Fate for bringing her to us. Our route to each other may have been a difficult one, but it has taught us so many things. How to be human, how to accept and give kindness, how to find compassion, how to conquer our pasts and fight the darkness within, and most importantly, how tolove.

Right now we’re a quartet of groans and moans. A cacophony of sounds. A beautiful melody of lust, affection, and desire. We’re tongues, lips, and mouths. We’re a perfect symphony of a thousand heartfelt kisses. We’re touches made of fire and heat, passion and possession, forgiveness and compassion. We’re inexplicably bound to one another, completely devoted, and utterly in love.

“I love you,” Christy murmurs, her face flush from her orgasm as we sit in a circle around her on the bed. She traces her finger gently over her name imprinted onto each of our chests then looks up at Leon.

“I love you, Leon, for the man that you are now and the angel who saved me…twice,” she adds with a smile, brushing her lips tenderly over his.

“I love you, Konrad, for fighting the monster and becoming the man you were always supposed to be,” she says, kissing him gently before shifting on her knees to face me.

“And I love you, Jakub, for being the first Brov brave enough to break the cycle, just like that little boy always knew you could.”

And at that moment as she looks at us all with hope in her eyes, I feel a sense of peace in my heart knowing that we’re more than a number, more than a mask. We’re people with hearts and souls andfeelings.

We’re free.
