"What!" Foi barked and grabbed the key. "No, I-"

Porter's grip tightened. "This is a good thing, Foi. The auction house is huge and well secured, but it's chaotic. It's easier to slip around undetected and that's what we need to do. Right now, we're going for stealth over brute force."

Slowly, a smile tugged at Porter's lips. Before, it had seemed damn near impossible trying to rescue Jaygen, but now there was a glimmer of hope. Renewed energy shot through Porter's body.

"Anyone have their phone on them?" he asked.

"Yes." Cyrus passed up his cell. "Arden wanted us to keep in touch."

Porter dialed Arden's number and waited until he picked up. He confirmed Amy was okay and everything was fine before he passed her the phone.

"Hey, Port." She sounded groggy and half asleep. "Where did you go?"

"I told you I was going to get Jaygen," he said softly. "Remember? Last night?"

"Oh yeah." Amy yawned and he heard her shuffling around. "Where are you now?"

"At the house, but we're leaving now. Jaygen's at the auction house or he will be soon because I just saw the van pull up. Do you still have your login code? I'm pretty sure mine is dead by now."

Amy snorted. "You've been gone longer than a month so yeah. And if you put that bitch in they'll sound the alarm." She grunted. "Hey, big guy, feel like driving me somewhere? You can drop me off for all I care." Arden argued with her in the background but she snapped. "You can drive me to my brother or I'll get a taxi. Either way, I'm going."

Porter groaned. "Please, Amy, you're supposed to be resting."

"Don't start," she said sternly. "We both know I'm not going to listen so you might as well save your breath. Meet me at the auction house in thirty minutes. They're going to take a while to prep and clean him up so he's pretty. We'll slip in the backdoor and into the storage room."

"You could just give me your passcode."

"Not a chance in hell, little brother. See you in thirty."

The call ended and Porter sighed as he stared at the phone. Same old Amy. There was no point arguing with her because she wasn't going to back down. He passed the phone back to Cyrus and turned to Foi.

"Drive to this address. We'll blend in better there and I'm going to go in and get Jaygen."

"No," Ozni started.

"Seriously, if you two argue with me, I'm going to scream!" Porter snapped. "Just do it. Every minute we sit around arguing he's gone and I- I..." His throat tightened and he had to clear it to be able to speak again. "I won't let him die for me. No one gets to fucking die because I put this shit on them!"

"He knew what he was getting into," Cy said softly. "I don't want to lose him either, but if you die too..."

"If he goes, I go," Porter said as he whipped around to glare at Cyrus. "All of you need to understand that. I can't stop until he's free. And if you get in my way?" His eyes ran over each of them. "You'll regret it."

The car was silent for a moment before Foi tried to speak. But Porter wasn't going to hear any of it. He held up a hand and directed Foi to drive. They needed to meet up with Amy and intercept her or she would do something crazy on her own. He knew she felt just like he did. When someone went out of their way to help them, they had to return the favor.

Porter glancedover as Amy tugged the door open and slid into the back seat. She looked better than she had the night before, but Porter could see dark circles under her eyes and bruises on exposed areas of her skin. The cream that Arden had used, the one Jaygen used on him, had done wonders to close up her cuts. She rolled her shoulders and nodded toward the massive building that looked like an ordinary office space.

"Is he here yet?" she asked.

"The van rolled up a few minutes ago."

Amy nodded. "Good, then we should be able to find him tucked into the storage room for a while longer. That's the best place to strike and I know exactly how to get there." She glanced around the car. "But I can't take all of you. You uh, wolf guy."

"Foi," Porter interrupted.

"Right, Foi. You and the big guy can go in together. They'll assume you're moving the product. And..."

"Cyrus," Cy supplied.

"Cyrus, you can slip in after us. It's better to go in waves than all at once." She reached out and squeezed Porter's shoulder. "Be strong and remember your training. If anyone moves the wrong way-"
