The remainder of the night they entertained customers until it was closing time. It was nearly sunrise when the last customer left and Porter yawned.

“You’d think after a month and half here I’d be used to being up all night,” Porter said.

He strummed his slender fingers against his lap as he slowly inched closer to Ozni. He chewed his bottom lip and it was void of the lip gloss from the start of the night. Ozni stayed still until Porter’s leg pressed against his. Electricity erupted from the spot of contact and sent tingles all over Ozni’s body.

Why did Porter have such an effect on him?

“Oz— about the first customers tonight… I’m sorry I got in the way. I know it was unprofessional. I don’t know why I did it,” Porter mumbled.

The lie hung between them. Ozni waited Porter out and the human finally looked at him and blew out a breath.

“Okay I do know, but uh— Damn supernaturals and their lie detector abilities,” Porter mumbled the last part.

Ozni huffed out a laugh. Porter's cheeks went red but his lips turned up into a smile.

“I just didn’t like the idea of him, or really anyone, touching your hair or running their fingers through it.” As Porter spoke he lifted up and pulled Ozni’s hair from his man bun before running his fingers through the loose white strands.

They stayed like that for another minute, everyone already headed upstairs to their rooms or home for the night. Porter yawned again and Ozni grabbed his hands. He didn’t want Porter to stop, but the human needed rest. Oz pressed light kisses against Porter’s finger tips earning another blush from him.

Ozni stood and held Porter’s hand, their fingers intertwined as they made their way upstairs. He walked Porter to his door and caught a glimpse of the code. Ozni would never abuse the information but he knew all of their codes. Cyrus, Foi, Porter, and even Jaygen. Ozni was the only one who never slept and in case of an emergency he made sure to be able to access each of their rooms. The only one who’d given their code without Ozni having to go seek it out was Jaygen, as if the tiger shifter understood his thought process without Ozni having to explain it.

Porter walked in and, unfortunately, their fingers untangled. Porter leaned against the door jamb, looking every bit the tease he was. There was something undoubtedly innocent about him.

“Oz, I—” Porter stopped, abusing his bottom lip.

Ozni pulled it free of the human’s teeth, running the pad of his thumb against the soft plump flesh. He retracted his hand before he did anything else and, just for good measure, took another step back.

A disappointed look came over Porter’s face, but the smile he tried to cover it with didn’t nearly reach the brilliant grin Ozni had become accustomed to. A bitter taste like ash burned against Ozni’s tongue. He much preferred making Porter smile and blush, not look sad.Damn it.

“Night, Ozni,” Porter said as he stepped further into his room and let the door close.

Ozni stood there for another second reminding himself it was better that he kept some distance between them. Just like he had with Foi, Jaygen, and Cyrus. Friends at a safe distance. He turned down the hall just as he heard a clunk in the kitchen.

He knew by scent alone it was Cy in the kitchen. He should probably go to his room and continue to avoid the incubus, but he missed how talkative he was, not to mention the flirting and the way Cy’s eyes lit up whenever they landed on him.

Ozni knew what he had to do but his feet turned him around and he went against the tiny voice in his head screaming at him to return to the shadows. He walked into the kitchen and Cy turned instantly, a croissant hanging from his pouty lips. Quickly, he stuffed the remainder of the pastry into his mouth as he glared at Ozni.

The daywalker rubbed the back of his neck and moved further into the room. He met Cy’s eyes once more and slowly reached out for the man. Cupping Cy’s face, he tried to convey, without words, how sorry he was. For a split second it worked. Cy nuzzled closer against Ozni’s hand and his eyes lost the heated glare for just a brief second, before anger flashed in them again. Cy pulled away from Ozni’s touch and just like that the hope was taken away.

“Fuck that, Ozni,” Cy said as he moved quickly and pushed up on his tippy toes.

Cyrus barely reached Ozni’s chin. The incubus glanced up and down before he grumbled. He walked away, grabbed a chair and pulled it over to the spot Ozni was cemented to. Carefully, he climbed it and finally stood taller than Ozni, forcing the vampire to tilt his head slightly to meet Cy’s determined gaze. Why was it that even when the incubus was clearly angry with him, he looked beautiful?

“You run scared from me all the damn time but yet you touch me and give me those sweet glances. Which is it, Oz? Do you want me or not? Because I’m so sick and tired of being rejected. I never kno—”

Ozni did something even he hadn’t seen coming. He pulled Cy down and crashed their lips together, shutting up the chatty incubus instantly. Cy groaned, his hands clutched to Ozni’s shirt.

Stop! The tiny voice in the back of Ozni’s head shouted but he couldn’t find it in him to do it. He wrapped his arms around Cy, one hand on his firm ass and another cradling the back of his head.

The need to devour Cyrus built to unimaginable strength and nearly consumed Ozni’s very being. But unlike Ozni, Cy needed to breathe. Reluctantly, Ozni pulled back and Cy sucked in harsh breaths.

Good. Cy was just as affected by Ozni. The daywalker stared at the man’s lips hungrily; they were so soft against his own. He wanted more, to continue until Cyrus was a begging mess under him but Ozni knew he had to stop.

“Oz, please,” Cy said so softly that it was barely a whisper. Those light brown eyes pleaded with him.

The wall Ozni built around himself weakened, but Ozni stayed still. He needed Cy to understand something and he doubted any gestures or actions would be enough for Cy.

“I desire you, Cyrus,” Ozni said.
