“Please.”

Eldon placed another kiss on Micha's forehead. Gamble did the same. Bash kissed his nose and Spooky didn’t hesitate as he brought their lips together. Micha gasped. Spooky winked at him as he followed the others to the door.

“Don’t go far,” Arden growled.

“Sure thing boss,” Bash said. The door closed leaving Micha and Arden all alone.

Micha prepared for the inevitable. Although he knew it was coming, it took everything in him to contain the turmoil of emotions inside of him.

“It hurt to learn of your betrayal.” Arden cleared his throat looking at the wall. “I have to know, did you ever think about telling me?”

“Every day.” Micha wiped at the stray tears. “I came close a few times but—”He was too stupid to see the truth. He was weak. He was pathetic. Everything Janek had said about him was true.

“But what?” Arden asked.

Micha audibly swallowed. “But I never went through with it.”

Arden nodded. “Janek saved you?”

“Yeah.” He cleared his throat. “He may have done it for his own reason but if he hadn’t saved me I’d probably be dead by now.”

Arden’s head snapped up. “What?”

Micha shrugged. “The stuff he said was true. I was nothing when he found me and for a short while I thought I’d becomesomethingbut that turned out to be false too.”

The bed dipped closer to Micha and he looked up just in time to see Arden coming toward him. The dragon gently sat down next to him making sure not to move Micha too much.

“Arden?”

The dragon cupped Micha’s face and his already over heated body latched onto Arden’s warmth and happily welcomed it.

The rough pads of his thumb stroked along Micha’s cheekbone. They sat there staring into each other's eyes for what felt like forever, but only seconds at the same time. Micha was afraid to blink. If this was to be the last time he stared into Arden’s amber eyes; he wanted to memorize every minute detail.

“You knew this entire time the crimes I’d committed.”

Micha opened his mouth but Arden placed his finger over his lips.

“And still saw past that and saw something in me I was sure had been killed off a long time ago.” Arden leaned closer and brushed their lips together. “Thank you.”

Micha reached up and grabbed a handful of Arden’s shirt clinging to him desperately. Please don’t let this be a goodbye kiss.Micha would have preferred if Arden threw him out of the room instead. His heart wouldn’t be able to handle it.

“Don’t thank me,” Micha said. His vision blurred but he kept talking. “I caused so much destruction. I didn't see what Janek was really doing. I knew what he’d planned but said nothing thinking I could change his mind. I—”

“You did what you had to do,” Adren interrupted. “I’m not happy about the betrayal but I can’t fault you either. I don’t know the full extent of your life before coming to PGD and one day I hope you will share it with me.”

He would if that’s what Arden wanted. But what Micha could only focus on was that it sounded like the dragon had plans for Micha to stay in his life and the nephilim could only hope.

“Who we are and who we need to be to survive are two different things.” Arden stared down at him. “Micha you are you my sweet birdie. You make my heart beat.”

Micha sucked in a breath. Could he really be that?

“But what I did was wrong.”

“And I’m not saying you are absolved of any of your wrong doings just as I am not.” Arden wiped away the tears rolling down Micha’s cheeks. “But what we can do is move forward and work to make better decisions. To be better people.”

Micha licked his lips. “Together?”

A slow smile curled Arden’s lips and he nodded. Micha sucked in a sharp breath. Seeing Arden’s smile was like waking up to a cloudless sky. Peace blanketed him and Micha let out the pent up breath he’d been keeping at bay.
