"Right, um, let me get these drinks over there and check on Zeek and the back entrance and I'll come back and assist." Gamble was apparently in a captain save a ho mindset. He could practically hear Mario shaking his head and saying, "Kid, you have got to stop taking care of people."

Gamble's mouth dipped in a frown. He was reminded once more how he hadn't fit into his old world, but he shoved the thought away.

"Why?" Bash asked.

Good fucking question.Gamble shrugged. "Do I need a reason to help?"

He could see it in Bash's eyes. He wanted to say yes, but he held it back as a customer called to him.

"Try and hold it down." Gamble moved back around the bar and took the tray of drinks; he made sure his smile was confident but not too much as he approached the women. "Ladies, sorry for the wait." He slightly bowed as he placed each drink down. He got them mixed up, but the ladies didn't seem to mind switching with their friends as long as he smiled at them.

"I am still checking on the mix up tonight. If you will please give me a little more time, I’ll get this sorted for you," Gamble asked.

They giggled. "See? He’s a gentleman."

The lady who'd seemed to be the leader for the night nodded. "Yes of course. Thank you again. And if you can't, well we all have agreed we wouldn't mind spending the evening with you."

Gamble would rather sit in boiling water, but he chuckled all the same. "I could only dream, but I want all of you to have the true Paranormal Guilty Delights experience. And that means you need a wonderful host to give you every ounce of attention-and affection-that you deserve."

He made his escape as quickly as possible and stopped by the bar. "I’ll be right back—" shit Gamble forgot his name.

"Bash," the man growled.

Gamble nodded. "Right." He moved outside and spoke to Zeek as quickly as possible. They were seriously short-staffed, and Arden thought right now was a good time to disappear? They all worked fine together, but they were far from a well-oiled machine.

"Gamble, what is happening?" Eldon's smooth voice caught him off guard, and Gamble nearly tripped over his own feet. He hadn't talked to the vampire since the incident in the shower. His blood still ran hot thinking about it. He'd jerked off to the memory more times than he could count and avoided Eldon like the plague.

His cheeks felt inflamed as he swallowed back the involuntary groan that tried to creep out of him.

"Gamble," Eldon said again but much closer.

Fuck. Gamble's palms began to sweat as he turned to meet Eldon's steel-gray eyes.Shit, that was stupid.Gamble couldn't get his brain to work, not when his gaze kept dropping to Eldon's mouth as if waiting to see a hint of fang. His heart rate picked up, and his blood rushed, nearly blocking out all noise as he imagined Eldon's pierced tongue gliding along the column of his neck before sharp fangs pierced his flesh.

Eldon's elegant fingers snapped in front of his face, and Gamble was pulled from his daydream.

"Are you okay?" Eldon asked. He reached out, and Gamble flinched away but not because he didn't want the vampire to touch him, in fact that was all he wanted.

Eldon's hand dropped, and he hid the hurt before Gamble could fully see it. It was almost as if he'd imagined the flicker of sadness crossing over his gorgeous gray eyes.

"We have a booth taken by some unknown ladies," Eldon said.

Right, work. Gamble nodded. "Yes, I was going to go figure it out but they booked a slot with you and Micha."

Eldon's pierced brows dipped. "They did?"

"I was going to go figure that out for sure before I came and sought either of you out. But they were causing a scene and I thought it best to handle it. Right now I gave them drinks on the house. I was heading to the backdoor to check it since we don't have enough men to cover it at the moment. The new girl doesn't start till tomorrow night and Zeek is handling the front. Um—" Gamble snapped his fingers. "The guy behind the bar."

"Bash?"

Gamble nodded. "Yes, he has no idea what he's doing back there so I was going back to assist him."

"And you know what you're doing back there?" Eldon asked.

He didn't sound surprised. It felt as if he was genuinely curious.

"Somewhat," Gamble said.

He stood taller and reminded himself that he needed to be calm, collected and indifferent. It was what he'd been taught; except in front of Eldon, it felt impossible. He felt like a fumbling fool.
