"Good afternoon," Micha said. He bowed and let his wings flutter out behind him slightly.

The women awed and cooed at him. He lifted his head and stopped in his tracks as he found Arden staring directly at him from across the room. His heart skipped a beat, and for a second, he was frozen to the spot. He forced himself to look away. He expected to feel the icy tendrils of fear, but that had never been the case when he was around Arden. Although he knew the bloody truth about his dragon boss.

Seduce Arden. His face grew hot with the thought. Not tonight. Micha got a distinct feeling that there would be no going back once he crossed that line.

he night had startedout rocky. While the customers flowed in and the hosts began to walk around and interact with their clients, Arden couldn't help but feel like something was off. That feeling had prevailed for the past two weeks and every time he tried to figure out what was wrong, he couldn't put his finger on it.

His amber eyes gazed around the bar and made sure everything was as it should be. People were talking, interacting, laughing. His shoulders relaxed a little.Nothing's going on. See? It's a good night.

It was easy to tell himself that, but the dragon that stayed curled in his chest was saying something else. Something waswrong. Very goddamn wrong. But once more he couldn't figure out what it was. As he tried to pinpoint the source of his anxiety, he froze.

There was Micha. He smelled the man the minute he walked in, those wings out behind him like a signpost flashing for attention. Arden licked his lips as his eyes went to Micha and the Nephilim held his gaze. They were going to have a chat later about why Micha kept disappearing. Normally, it was none of his business what his hosts did, but after the trouble with Porter, he was still on high alert. Once Arden looked away from Micha, he forced himself to pay attention to the man at the bar who smiled at him, batting his long lashes.

"Can I have another one of these?" he whispered as if it would get him more than just asking normally. "Thank youuuu."

Arden wanted to roll his eyes, but he never did. Instead, he smiled at the man. "Of course. Coming right up."

His eyes flickered up and he gazed at Micha once more. The man was back to attending to his guests' every need, but it didn't stop Arden from staring. Ever since the Nephilim had come around, Arden found himself drawn to him. But there was something there too. Something that was...off about the man.

Arden turned his attention back to the task at hand. The customer wanted a drink and it was his job to fulfill those wishes. He mixed together the Moscow Mule and placed two slices of lime inside.

"Here you are," he said with a smile.

"Oooh it looks amazing. Thank you." The stranger picked up the drink and grinned at Arden. "So, you own this place right?"

Arden nodded. "Yes, I do."

"It looks amazing. Are you single?"

Goddamnit. Arden wanted to wrap his big hands around the man's neck and squeeze until he stopped talking. And it would be easy. Toss him into a lonely, dark corner in his room and slice him into tiny little pieces before disposing of his rancid body. The flash of irritation alighted on his face.

Arden closed his eyes and dragged in a shuddering breath.Control it!His dragon let out a growl that would have shaken the host bar apart if it came out of his mouth, but he kept it clamped shut until his teeth and ears ached.

Slowly, he opened his eyes, but they had lost their sheen. Now, when he looked at the man at the bar, it was with a dead expression. The semi-drunk, obnoxious man sat up straighter, his eyes wide before he leaned back, visibly trying to get away from Arden.

Yes, run. Run so you can be chased down like the prey that you are.

It would be so easy, like a bunny and a wolf. Except instead of using teeth, he would rip the man's skin from his body in one go, head to toe, and toss it aside. The bloodlust in his body blazed and he grinned at the man. It had been a long time since he’d gotten to sate the beast inside of him.

"Do you really want to know if I'm single?" Arden asked.

The customer scrambled out of his seat and the bar stool he'd been sitting on slammed to the floor. Eyes shot in their direction, but Arden didn't look at them. He just kept his focus on his prey.

"N-no," the customer shook his head, blond hair falling into his eyes. "Sorry if I was rude. Sorry!"

Arden watched as he turned tail and ran out of PGD altogether. Once the man was gone, his dragon curled up again, huffed, and went back to sleep. Arden rubbed his chest, blinking as he came back to reality.

Shit. There goes another customer.

He hadn't scared people off in a long time and it was never intentional before. There was something about his gaze that intimidated people and he couldn't help that. But this? This was his old self crawling to the surface and threatening to break free.

"Well, that was terrifying. I thought you were going to eat him."

Arden blinked. Spooky. The cat familiar was a welcomed sight after his little slip up. And though he wouldn't admit it out loud, he’d become kind of fond of the kitten. He’d decided to stay behind with Arden after Porter saved him. Spooky had been abandoned by his witch and left to rot before the human had smuggled him into PGD. But now he was looking much better.

"Nothing like that," Arden said, waving a hand. "He just pissed me off."

"You've been pissed off a lot lately,” he pointed out.
