“No.”

Rich laughter filled the room and Gamble’s shoulders relaxed on their own. Why did Eldon have that effect on him?

“You can say no, but your racing heart says differently.”

Shit, Gamble was usually a lot better at lying but he wasn’t exactly focused when his body still craved the vampire's touch. Not to mention the fog that felt like it wanted to permanently reside in his head.

“Yeah well, we did just have sex. And it’s going to still be pounding away trying to replace some of the blood you took.”

Eldon smiled at him and Gamble swore the vampire was meant to be a rockstar or something. He was too charming for his own good.Guess being a host really fits him.

“I brought orange juice, it’s over there,” Eldon said, pointing to the nightstand.

Gamble didn’t argue as he grabbed it and drank it down.

“Thank you Eldon,” Micha said.

“Of course, sweetness. I’ll take care of you anytime you want.”

The blush that blossomed over Micha’s face was the brightest it had been all night.

“Stop flirting, you're going to make him pass out with how much you’re making him blush,” Gamble grumbled.

Eldon turned his gray eyes to Gamble. “Do you want all my attention to yourself?”

“As if.”

Gamble shook his head and picked Micha’s pajamas up and handed them to the man. The Nephilim slipped them on, a yawn stretching his cute mouth as he laid out and twisted to get comfortable.

“You two are what I think an old married couple would be like,” Micha said.

“What?” Gamble asked, perplexed. How in the hell had the Nephilim come up with that? Eldon on the other hand laughed.

“I could see that,” Eldon said.

Gamble opened his mouth before he promptly shut it. The vampire probably wanted him to say something so he could continue to be goaded.

Micha got on his side closest to the wall and Gamble curled right behind him. He peeked at Eldon, the vampire sat at the edge of the bed and for a second there was a longing look in his gray eyes that resonated with Gamble.

“I should go,” Eldon said as he got up from the bed and headed toward the door.

Gamble shut his eyes. If he stared too long, he might continue to see things. He might see him as something more than a fellow employee even after their time together.

But wasn’t it too late? The wall Gamble kept up that pushed everyone out didn’t work on Eldon. It was as if the vampire slipped around it every single time.

“Uh Eldon, you can stay,” Micha offered.

Gamble didn’t need to open his eyes to know the vampire was looking at him expectantly. He simply scooted over, leaving a spot for him to join them if he wanted to.

The bed dipped and Gamble tensed up but it lasted only a second; it was impossible not to relax around Eldon. When Gamble first met the vampire, he’d been weary of that effect. It was dangerous for anyone to relax around a predator like Eldon.

Cool flesh pressed against his own and Gamble let out a sigh as he buried his face in Micha’s feathers. The Nephilim passed out in seconds; it was a new record. The first night it had taken him a while. It wasn’t until Gamble suggested that Micha sleep with his back turned to him did the little angel finally pass out that first time. Now, he seemed to be able to relax in a matter of minutes.

“You know you need to talk to him.”

“Do you ever stop?” Gamble grumbled. He knew he’d have to face Arden sooner rather than later. The dragon was just so damn intimidating and then there was the fact that Gamble couldn’t hold onto his composure around him. He became some flustered teen faced with their crush. It was humiliating.

Eldon sighed. “I will once you go talk to him.”
