“Iwillhelp you. I don’t ever make promises I don’t plan on keeping.”

“Gam—”

“He is no doubt in here,” Eldon’s voice penetrated the fog of lust and concern that hung in the air between them.

“Why would he be in here? Isn’t this Micha’s room?” Bash’s growly voice took Micha by surprise, and by the way Gamble tensed it had taken him too.

“Yeah well that’s a discussion for a—are we interrupting?” Eldon asked.

Gamble turned around and blocked Micha from the others. He quickly wiped his eyes, catching any tears before they could ruin the hard work Spooky had done on his makeup.

“If you were, you’d still come in,” Gamble said.

A whoosh of air was all the warning Micha had before Eldon’s cool fingers gripped his chin and lifted his head. His slate gray eyes roamed all over Micha’s face, not saying anything but taking it all in. Micha, like always, was relaxed, and Eldon gave him a smile that made him feel even better. He almost wanted to spill everything to him too, but he knew better.

“Well we have work to do and all hands on deck for tonight,” Eldon said.

Eldon reached past Micha, plucked a tube of lipgloss from the vanity, and reapplied it to Micha’s lips with care. Micha couldn’t take his eyes off Eldon the entire time. His chest was bare as he wore black silk pajama bottoms that hung loose on his hips. His body was covered in more tattoos that Micha loved tracing and couldn’t wait to do again. His pierced nipples drew Micha’s gaze to the black bars. No doubt they were changed out to match his outfit for the night.

“Ugh, even the guards all have to dress different,” Gamble grumbled making Micha shake his head to dispel his own fantasies.

Eldon grinned at the witch. “It’s lustful dreams, night. Everyone needs to be a fantasy.”

Gamble rolled his eyes and went to put his hair up, but Eldon moved away from Micha and stopped him. Micha shook his head at them and let them do their usual back and forth. Eldon would win as he always did but Micha was pretty sure the witch didn’t mind all that much. Not the way Gamble moaned whenever Eldon drank from him or touched him. His reactions even had Micha wondering if it would be worth it to be fed on. If the pleasure outweighed the pain.

Micha looked around for the shoes he needed to finish getting ready. The last thing he wanted to do was make Arden angry for being late. It had already happened too many times, and Micha nearly passed out from the anxiety alone.

“Are they always like this?” Bash’s rough voice made Micha pause. He’d nearly forgotten the bear shifter was in his room as well. That was unlike him; he tended to be aware of everyone near him in case someone got violent. Or he used to be. There were a certain select few that Micha no longer was constantly on edge with. Apparently, that now included Bash.

“Pretty much,” Micha said.

A pesky strand of hair fell from the half up-do, and he blew it out of the way, only for it to fall back in his line of sight. Large, calloused hands moved toward him, and Micha froze up. He stopped breathing as he waited.

Bash tucked the strand behind Micha’s ear and pulled his hands back, stuffing them into his pocket. “You can breathe,” he pointed out.

Micha jumped slightly and blew out a breath. “Okay.”

Bash looked as if he had more to say, but instead, he mumbled under his breath and avoided looking at Micha. The bear shifter was an anomaly to Micha. It was as if he was conscious of how scary he could be and was really trying not to frighten Micha. But only if he knew the truth. Bash made Micha’s pulse race and he found himself drawing closer to the bear. He just wondered why Bash would be so careful around him when they’d only just met?

Micha found his shoes and slipped the heels on. He bent down to zip them, but Bash moved back over to him, his gaze on Micha.

“Let me,” Bash said as he dropped down.

“Thank you.”

Micah’s breath caught in his throat as Bash’s fingers brushed along his ankles, and a surprising tingle wrapped around his legs and traveled up to his cock. Micha visibly shivered as he tried to reign in his body’s reactions. Again Bash’s calloused fingers lightly touched him. Micha hesitated his hand hovering over Bash’s shoulder. He’d heard the bear shifter didn’t like to be touched. And the last thing Micha wanted to do was insult him.

Bash reached up and grabbed Micha’s wrist with the lightest touch. For someone so big and rough looking he was surprisingly gentle. He placed Micha’s hand on his shoulder with a grunt before going back to his shoes.

Heat crawled up from his fingertips and slowly consumed him. Micha’s wings expanded slightly as he ruffled his feathers. Why was he so sensitive?A simple touch shouldn’t have him on the brink of begging for more.

“There you go,” Bash said, gazing up at him with those emerald green eyes. “Better?

“Yes,” Micha whispered. “Thank you.”

“I’m guessing you’re with me?” Gamble asked Bash, interrupting the intense moment just in time.

“Yes. We’re outside.” The bear shifter turned from Micha, and he could breathe a little easier but barely. Because as he looked away, he caught Eldon’s knowing gaze focused on him. Nothing went unnoticed by the vampire. Micha audibly swallowed. Even if Eldon asked him what was happening, he wouldn’t be able to explain it. Micha was just as confused.
