The words felt binding, and the ball in Gamble’s chest eased just a bit more. He nodded and took Spooky’s mouth in another kiss. Gamble moved one of his hands and ran it along the base of Spooky’s tail. The familiar shot forward and cried out. Gamble did again, rocking into Spooky hard.

The base of his spine tingled, and he knew that he was about to come. Gamble pulled his mouth away from Spooky’s and bit down on his shoulder as his climax shot through him. The coppery tang of blood coated his tongue, but Gamble continued to bite down. Spooky’s screams of pleasure were like music to his ears.

Gamble licked his lips before bringing them to Spooky’s once more. Their hurried movement slowed down and turned into a lazy dance. They crashed on their sides on the bed, both breathing heavily, their limbs still intertwined.

As Gamble’s heart rate finally regulated, he sat up a bit. “It’s the real deal.”

“Yeah,” Spooky said.

Gamble’s mouth curved up in a grin. “Looks like we are stuck together, cat.”

Spooky shoved at Gamble. “Don’t be a jackass your whole life.”

Gamble shook his head, gathering up his curls and tying them up in a messy bun. “That wasn’t a part of the deal.” He got up and offered his hand to Spooky. “Come on, we can shower and I need to change the sheets. Pretty sure Micha isn’t coming down but I still should clean up.”

“You’ve been sleeping with Micha this entire time?” Spooky asked.

Gamble tilted his head. “Is that going to be a problem?” His stomach knotted; he knew Arden was okay, but this bonded thing was new for him. He knew some witches only committed to their familiar, and some didn’t have any type of relationship with theirs.

Spooky shook his head, his black hair dancing in front of his eyes, hiding them away. “Not really, I mean me and Micha have done some things.”

Gamble’s eyebrows nearly kissed his hairline. “Oh? You’ll have to tell me later.”

Spooky smiled, and it was as if moonlight bathed the room. It was that beautiful.

“Stay here,” Gamble rushed out before he lost the nerve.

Spooky moved closer and kissed him. “I planned on it. But it’s cute that you asked.”

Gamble groaned. “Don’t be an insufferable ass.”

Spooky slipped his shorts on. “Wasn’t a part of the deal,” he mimicked Gamble’s words right back at him.

Shit, he was fucked for the rest of his life and yet he couldn’t dismiss the lightness in his soul. The fear of being abandoned and hated still lingered in the back of his mind, maybe it always would. But when he looked into Spooky’s warm eyes, he found he could ignore it.

Gamble trusted Spooky.With his life.

According to Arden and Eldon, the cops were snooping around and it was best if Micha stayed out of sight. Even if they weren't there for him, specifically. Now that he wasn't allowed on the floor at all, he was left with entirely too much time on his hands.

Micha stared at Arden's office. He’d been left alone upstairs and no one was inside. Micha chewed his bottom lip as he contemplated going through with it. Being in Arden's bed was clouding his judgment; there was nothing like being cradled in his big arms. He held Micha so tightly it should have been hard to breathe, but it had the opposite effect on him, lulling him into a deep sleep where the nightmares couldn't reach him. The only thing he wanted to change was to have Gamble on his other side. The witch always traced soft patterns on his hip as he fell asleep and Micha missed that.

Pain slowly registered before the metallic taste of blood graced his palette. Micha released his abused bottom lip and took a step toward the office. Arden was a monster, and there were no ifs or buts about it. Except he didn't feel like one, not when he held Micha with such care.

Micha's head was a mess; no matter how he tried to pull up the images of Arden covered in blood, bodies scattered around his feet or the broken-hearted families that had lost loved ones at Arden's hands, none of them would stick. They slipped through his fingers like water, and in their place was Arden drawing a bath for Micha, Arden holding Micha as he had a breakdown, Arden washing soda from Micha's wings. The two Arden's didn't mesh in his head.

Maybe he’s changed. It was possible, right?

Micha's stomach twisted as he sank even further into his indecision. What was he supposed to do, turn his back on the man who saved him or ruin whatever was happening between him and Arden? One felt far worse than the other.

Vibration from his phone pulled him from his circling thoughts. Micha looked at the message from his savior and swallowed thickly.

Savior: I heard what happened to you. I hope you are okay.

Micha read over the message repeatedly, looking for something more demanding, but it was just him checking in. It should have made him feel light and happy, but instead, there was a sour taste in Micha's mouth. He chastised himself. How could he feel this way about the man who saved his life? Micha ground his teeth. He needed to remember why he was there.

Micha: I am fine. Thank you.

Savior: That’s good. Keep up the good work. I’m counting on you. You are my last hope to right this wrong.
