Micha's blood went ice cold as dread weighed down on him.His last hope.Micha's fingers trembled as he typed up the message. Maybe he could convince his savior to change his mind. Arden was different; the entire time he'd been employed by the dragon, he hadn't seen the man do anything overly violent. Sure, he could be cranky and mean, but he didn’t do anything besides growl and threaten.

Before Micha could send the message, Savior texted back.

Savior: Once this is all done, I have the money to buy you a ticket straight out of the city. You can leave everything behind you and start new. You can be happy where no one will ever hurt you again.

But he was happynow. Micha closed his eyes and clicked out of the messages. He knew what he had to do; it didn't align with what he wanted, but he was honor bound to carry out his savior’s wishes.

The feeling of being unclean blanketed Micha as he began to go through Arden's things. Everything he touched felt wrong. He shouldn't even be in there. He glanced at the door nervously, wanting nothing more than to flee. His heart pounded against his rib cage as he moved things around, putting them back exactly as he'd seen them.

He found a few documents tucked away, and Micha opened them. He glanced over it, but he didn't understand half of it. There were names and money amounts next to them. He took out his phone and took pictures. Every camera click made him want to puke, but he pushed on. The sooner he got it all over with, the faster the Nephilim could forget it all and run away.

He moved his hand around, and his fingers grazed a hidden button. Monitors came up, and screens appeared. There was a view everywhere around the host bar, even places Micha hadn't noticed.Arden had been watching them? He’d known about some of the places, but there were other locations he had no idea about. His gaze easily found the dragon shifter behind the bar talking with Eldon.

Micha reached out on instinct and touched the screen tracing them. Once he did this, it was over. He'd be free, but that meant he'd have to leave them. Micha found Gamble, and a spark danced along his flesh. He scanned the other cameras and found Bash, the big bear shifter, was moving huge crates three at a time. His impressive arms bunched with the effort. Micha wished he was down there instead of watching and silently cheering the man on.

Finding Spooky was a bit more difficult. He didn't see the familiar anywhere. Micha shook his head. He needed to stay focused on the task at hand. He pushed the button once more, and the screens went away.

Micha clicked on the computer, but it was locked, and he left it alone, slightly thankful for that fact. Maybe if he looked around and found nothing, he could forget about it all and possibly stay with Arden. He opened more drawers and looked around. He didn't know what he was supposed to find. Savior had never given him any specifics. He was supposed to get him information on the bar or anything Arden had.

Savior: Good job, stay there for now. I will let you know if anything comes of this. If you find more, send it my way. Anything and everything will help me like I helped you.

Micha's throat felt dry, and he closed up all the files and paperwork, putting them away. A part of him was happy he didn't have to say goodbye but the other part of him, the one that felt disgusted by what he was doing, wanted nothing more than to run away.

He cleaned everything up and straightened it to the point there was no evidence. He reached in his back pocket for the scent eraser Rolla had given him, but he'd stupidly forgotten it. Micha groaned, but with the night about to start soon, he was sure he had time to run downstairs, grab the spray and erase his scent before Arden made his way to his office.

Micha stepped out of the office and made it all three steps before Arden's private entrance opened. Black cat ears appeared first before Spooky poked his head in. A huge smile on his face grew the moment he spotted Micha. He skipped over but stopped as he looked back at Micha's hand still on the doorknob of Arden’s office. He quickly jerked his hand away.Shit.

Spooky's smile dipped slightly, and Micha's already thrashing heart picked up the pace.

"What were you doing?" Spooky asked.

Micha swallowed thickly. He needed to come up with something or he was busted with a capital B.

"Spooky," Micha smiled. “Oh yeah I was just uh-”

His brain went completely blank.Shit, shit, shit! Why couldn’t he ever lie?

The familiar tilted his head in the way an animal would. His big brown eyes peered at Micha, looking him up and down.

The longer Micha took to answer, the more Spooky's brows dipped. He glanced over at the office and moved past Micha.

Shit.Micha needed to think of something, but his brain had shut down. Maybe it would be for the best if he got caught, and it would make having to leave them that much easier. Even while Micha came to terms with being caught, his chest ached, and the longing in his soul cried out for him to stay.

Spooky opened the door and went inside, forcing Micha to follow behind him. Micha twisted his fingers, trying his damndest not to blurt it all out. He saw the way Spooky looked at Arden; there was no way Spooky would believe what he knew, even with photographic evidence. Micha had difficulty believing it himself now that he'd met Arden and gotten to know him a little.

But everyone hid a secret part of themselves from others; it was inevitable.

Spooky pulled Arden's chair out and took a seat; he looked odd in the dragon's chair. But it didn't change the tense air between them.

"Micha, you haven't answered me," Spooky said.

A chill went down Micha's spine, and he couldn't control the tremor that started up. He couldn't answer Spooky even if he wanted to. Instead, Micha looked down. The room stayed silent for what felt like an endless amount of time.

Spooky sighed and laid his head on his hands. "I came up here to make sure you weren't bored."

Micha's head shot up.Spooky had been worried about him?He didn't deserve the familiar's compassion, but Micha soaked it up like a sponge, making him crave more. "Oh, thank you."

After another minute, Spooky shook his head. "Are you going to keep secrets?"
