I sit on the low, wooden table occupying the center of the living area, leaning my elbows on my knees. Hamlet’s just playing along. She’s used to being in control, and honestly, that is what is attracting me to her, but I can’t in good conscience let her walk out the door after what she’s been through until I hear it from the doctor’s lips.

“Do you need me to call a work colleague, boyfriend, husband, family member to come to get you?”Yes, I am fishing because I still don’t know if she is single.“So, is that a ‘yay’ or ‘nay’ on the hubby or boyfriend? You know, just to clarify.” She didn’t answer me earlier, and I see no rings, but clarity is always good.

“Not that it is your business, but I currently don’t do men.”

“Ahh… then I apologize for my ignorance for not saying ‘girlfriend.’” I rub my beard. Why do I feel suddenly at a loss? The lucky woman who gets to hold her in her arms and lick her ripe pussy—

“No!” She holds her hands out in front of her. “I prefer men in my bed.”

Thank you, Jesus!

“I’m taking a hiatus from relationships. I’m just not into any attachments for now. I have a lot on my mind and don’t need the distraction.”

I can work with that.

There’s a sharp double knock at the door.

“Come in,” I call out.

A fit, handsome man with a kind face in his sixties with salt-and-pepper hair, dressed in slacks, a business shirt, and a tie, carrying a doctor’s bag, walks through the door smiling. “Hello.” He gives the room a wave. “I’m Dr. Sullivan. I got a call to examine a young lady who fought with a countertop.”

I walk over and shake his hand. “Thank you for coming.” I point to said bruiser. “The bruiser on the couch will be your patient. And I am Tucker.”

“Nice to meet you, Tucker. Ah, yes, I can see the young lady has been in a bit of a dust-up.” The doctor walks over to the couch, sits on the table, and then produces a hand to shake. “Hello, O—”

“I’m Hamlet,” she blushes while cutting him off, shaking his hand firmly.

Go figure. All it takes is for the doc to appear, and suddenly Hamlet turns into a blusher.

He’s at least sixty-five!

“Okay, Hamlet.” The doc arches an eyebrow. What did I just miss?Maybe she’s into Daddy fetishes? “I am Doctor Sullivan. I’m a friend of Levi and Keanu’s… well, all their friends, and I attend to their medical needs. And my wife, Betty, and I have them over for barbecues from time to time. Levi thought it would be prudent to come a little earlier to pick up my lunch order and bring my doctor’s bag along for the ride. I hope you can feel comfortable with me looking at your injuries.” I like the guy’s gentle bedside manner. “I would like to give you a quick examination to put Keanu and Levi’s minds at rest and no doubt Tucker, who is hovering close by.”I really like the doc.

“Honestly, all this attention is not necessary.” Ten points for still trying to waggle her way out of getting a medical. “I’m highly embarrassed to be lying here over a little bump on my head.”

Ahh, that’s the reason for the flushed face. Hamlet sees it as a weakness to get taken care of.

So, no Daddy fetish.

“I’ll make it a quick examination, and from the looks of things, I will be stitching up that nasty gash, and then I can release you into the care of your friends.”

I can see Hamlet wants to protest. I shake my head slowly. She clamps her mouth shut.

Obedient when she wants to be.

Good girl.

“Thank you, doctor,” she says softly.

See, that wasn’t hard at all.

While Doc Sullivan examines Hamlet, I head over to the kitchen to give them privacy.

A hand clamps down on my shoulder while my head is buried in the refrigerator, making me jump, nearly dropping the unopened bottle of water I found.

“What trouble are ye in now?” Damn, I forgot all about Shamus waiting in the parking lot for me and two coffees.

I place the bottle of water on the counter. “Christ, man. I did not hear you come in.”
