Carrie injected something into my thigh and smiled down at me. “No more than usual. That will help with any bleeding issues. I’ll just clean up the placenta, check bubs, then leave you to it.”

I shivered a little, cold for the first time in months. “Can I have a blanket?”

Xander pulled one from our cupboard and draped it over us both. “Of course.”

“How many of the pack do you think will leave tonight?” I asked, staring down at my daughter and stroking her perfect dark curls.

She had a lot more hair than I thought she would, and her little mouth was opening and closing as though looking for food.

Xander crossed his arms over his chest, standing guard over us. “Everyone from twenty to thirty, I’d say.”

I shuffled the baby up a little more so I could kiss her little head. “Looks like you changed everything, baby girl.”

“No. You did.” Xander said, leaning down to kiss my lips. “You’re the miracle to us, Monique. And our baby girl is a blessing.”

I smiled up at him and allowed Carried to take her from me to wrap her quickly in a blanket.

When she tried to hand the baby back to me, I indicated to Xander. “I think Daddy wants to hold her first.”

Each of the men had picked a different title. Daddy, Dad and Ba.

Carrie handed our little miracle to Xander and after initially looking panicked, he soon held her like an expert, tight against his chest. “Let’s walk you over to the window.” He said. “I know grandma and grandpa will be waiting to see you.”

I rested back against the pillows, all the pain gone. And in its place was only happiness and love for al the changes that had happened in my life.

My beautiful men and our little girl.

Nothing could be more perfect.

THE END.
