“Don’t be your fucking father. Olivia deserves better than you wanting to shove your cock inside her.”

Good pep talk.

Downstairs, he climbed into the car.

“Evening, sir. Are we still picking up Ms. Dakota?” Frederick asked.

“Yes. The plan remains the same.” He frowned, wondering why the man had even asked. While he wished it was Olivia on his arm, he knew Dakota would be a good distraction.

She wasn’t a woman you could ignore.

Proving his point, ten minutes later, Frederick opened the door and Dakota stepped in wearing a stunning silver dress with a low neckline showing off her ample breasts.

Exactly what he needed.

“Hey gorgeous,” Dakota said, sliding next to him and planting a kiss on his cheek.

“Thank you for coming,” Fletcher said, kissing her on the side of her lips.

“I’m excited to see the new hotel,” she replied. “You Duforts always put on a grand event.”

She chatted away easily until they prepared to exit the vehicle. Both of them put on their game faces. As soon as they stepped out, the paparazzi camera flashes blinded him.

Dakota slid her hand around his upper arm and posed like a professional. He led her inside where their jackets were taken, and they were handed a glass of champagne. One sip told him it was Krug Vintage.

“Oh, it's stunning,” Dakota sighed.

Fletcher smiled.

The place looked different at night. The three large chandeliers were lit up, sending sparkles around the spacious lobby, which was filled with guests.

The champagne was flowing while a pianist played, and another sang dulcet tunes.

The event was black tie so there was a sea of black tuxes while the women filled the room with colorful cocktail dresses, expensive jewelry, and perfumes. Not to be outdone on the jewelry front, Fletcher had no doubt the collective value of the men’s watches could put a healthy dent in the national debt.

He led Dakota over to his brothers and introduced her to Harper.

“Nice to meet you. Your dress is gorgeous,” Harper said, despite her own being absolutely stunning. The Kiwi was so unaware of her own beauty. He knew that fact was a big part of the reason his brother had fallen in love with her.

New York was a tough city and so were many of the women who populated the wealthy circles the Duforts did. It was another reason he’d invited Dakota. She was less of a bitch than most and would treat Harper with respect. Mainly because she was half promised to a member of the English royal family, so her future was set out for her.

Not that anyone knew that but him.

After sleeping with her the second time, he’d wanted to make it clear this was not leading to anything serious or romantic. She had burst into laughter and reminded him that her father was a billionaire—which he knew—and that she had no interest in his Dufort fortune.

When he’d shrugged and said many of the women he slept with had rich trust funds and still wanted to marry him, she had told him her secret. The promise of a tiara and title was apparently very appealing, though she wouldn’t say which royal.

“Good move,” Daniel said quietly.

“I’m sorry?” He frowned.

“I was getting worried.”

“About?”

“A certain PR manager,” Daniel said, slapping him on the shoulder. “I really didn’t want to fire you.”

Fucker.
