“That can be arranged,” Hunter replied, then glanced at Fletcher. “Though not with my brother, thanks.”

“Feeling’s mutual.” He shrugged.

“Shame,” Dakota said, pouting. “Excuse me, gentlemen, I have to powder my nose and it looks like you are about to be interviewed. Again.”

As they watched her walk away, Katy joined them with several unfamiliar faces. She introduced everyone and directed the reporters on who could ask their questions first.

A few minutes into the interviews, Fletcher glanced over Katy’s head to see Olivia watching. Their eyes met momentarily, and she quickly glanced away.

Fucking hell.

He wanted to storm over there and shake her, but as he continued to observe her, he noticed something new. Something he’d not seen before.

Fear.

He’d been right earlier; something was spooking her.

“Fletcher, can we get a couple of pictures of the three of you, and a quote from Daniel?” Murray from theNew York Timesasked.

As if on cue, Thomas arrived with Daniel. He nodded to his brother, knowing he was well briefed and prepared.

“Good evening, everyone. Thank you for coming.” Daniel stood beside Hunter and tucked one of his hands into his pocket, seeming completely at ease and confident in who he was and what he did.

Because he was.

“We’re very excited to be celebrating the opening of our first luxury Dufort boutique hotel, SoHo Dufort, this evening.”

Cameras clicked and phones lifted to record the prominent CEO’s words.

“SoHo Dufort is a destination hotel for corporate travelers visiting Manhattan and will act as the flagship for any upcoming locations around the world.”

Daniel glanced at Fletcher, giving him the floor.

“The top-notch technology in our luxury suites, the executive business center and key locations around SoHo Dufort provides everything a busy corporate traveler needs,” Fletcher said. “Without compromising on the luxurious experience that guests at our Dufort properties have come to expect and enjoy around the world.”

A younger reporter pushed his phone closer.

“Where can we expect the next Dufort boutique hotel to pop up?”

Bingo.

The billion-dollar question they knew would be asked. Probably for months to come.

Anticipation was gold.

“We’ll be announcing that in the coming months. It’s a ‘watch this space’,” Hunter replied, as rehearsed.

Hunter wasn’t a fan of the spotlight, preferring to leave those things to Fletcher and Daniel, but for this key event it was important all three of them were visible and united.

His younger brother wouldn’t stay long. They all knew it.

“Can we ask about your upcoming nuptials, Mr. Dufort?” one reported asked Daniel.

“You can ask, but tonight is about SoHo,” Daniel replied with a brief smile. “When my fiancée is ready to speak publicly, we will look to select someone for an exclusive interview.”

Daniel’s response, prepared for when the question inevitably popped up despite the media being briefednotto ask it, garnered the response they had expected.

Like savage dogs, they clamored to be the chosen one.
