Tugging on her hand, I slide the ring I stopped to get on my way here over her glove and on her fourth finger and grin.

“Now it’s official.”

Raising her hand to my mouth, I kiss the ring, full of promises I fully intend to fulfil.

“It’s beautiful.”

“Still wanna marry me then?”

“I kinda have to. I accidentally-on-purpose told your sister. She promised not to tell anyone.”

“It’s fine.”

I pull her against me and kiss her. How the fuck did someone like me manage to find her, someone who is constantly worrying about everyone else’s happiness before her own.

“Let’s go get Rayna.”

“I’ll follow you.”

I notice she has her car keys in her hand. Shaking my head, she frowns.

“You’re riding with me. I’ll have someone pick your car up.”

“I’ve never ridden with you.”

“Now you will. You belong on the back of my bike.”

I take the keys from her and slide them into my pocket as she jumps on behind me.

I don’t think she knows how powerful this is going to be. I’m making a statement and as we ride into the club, everyone will know it.

“You ready?”

“Always.”

She wraps her arms around my waist and once I’ve made sure her feet are where they’re supposed to be, I ride for the club. The wind thrashes against my face and keeping one hand steady on the handlebar, I wrap my hand around her thigh and stroke my thumb over her soft skin. I feel her press her lips against my back and smile.

Life has a pretty fucked-up way of showing you how you’re going to live but I’m happy and I’m not going to waste any more time trying to fight against it. India was my first love, but Holly is my end game. Only I’m not playing, I’m going to do this right.

The prospect has the gate open, so I don’t have to stop, but I do slow down and hold on to Holly’s clasped hands at my front as I slow enough to stop.

The universe must want everyone to see I have my shit together. Every fucker is out enjoying the sun after yesterday’s storm, and every set of eyes are on us as I climb off and hold my hand out to help Holly get on her feet.

“You ready for this?” I ask quietly.

“Are you ready for this?” she counters.

Laughing, I say, “Come on.”

Throwing my arm around her, the door to the main house opens and Mom and Rayna walk out. Mom does a double take, but it’s quickly replaced with a smile.

And my daughter, she only sees her dad and Holly. It doesn’t bother her my arm is around her. And as I expect her to run up to me for a hug, she runs to Holly.

“Hey, you. You been a good girl for Grandma?”

“Yep, yep, yep.”

Holly struggles to keep a hold of her. My girl is getting big now and I take her and plant a big kiss on her cheek. She giggles and fists her little hand in my hoodie.
