“That was quite the entrance you made.” Mom grins.

“What can I say? Go big or go home.”

I spin around and Harper stands there, Gunner on her hip, grinning at me and then winking at Holly.

“Yeah, yeah.” I wink back at her. “You happy now?”

“More than. JJ’s waiting on you.”

Sliding Rayna down to her feet, she runs off to play with Sebastian and I pull Holly closer to me. Shoving my fingers in her hair, I bring her lips to meet mine and kiss her, showing every fucker who she belongs to, and not only that, but who I belong to.

“I don’t think everyone wants to see that.” She giggles.

“They’ve seen far worse. I’ll come find you when I’m done.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll keep her company,” Harper promises with a gleam in her eye.

“I bet you will.”For all the details she missed after she left last night no doubt.

JJ’s leaning on the bar, talking with Zara when I step inside. What the fuck do they have to talk about? Neither hear me approach and I catch the tail end of their conversation.

“She’s the type he keeps her eyes open for. You should’ve listened, but you didn’t, and now you get to watch him love someone else… again.”

“Fuck you,” she spits.

“Not even with Pope’s wrinkly pipe, sweetheart. Maybe it’s time you find somewhere else to hang.”

Snatching her purse from the bar, she barges past JJ and stops short before bumping into me.

Her cheeks flame red but it’s not from embarrassment, it’s from anger. I step to the side, not caring to ask, and turn to my brother.

“What the fuck was that about?”

“That was me having your back. I caught her scowling when you made your little entrance. Looked like she was ready to blow.”

“She’s not over that yet? I haven’t spoken to her in over a year and the last time I did, I banned her from coming near me. I thought she was with Grim now?”

“Fuck knows. Hopefully she’ll stay away, especially as you’re off the market so to speak.”

He slaps me on the back and reaches over the bar and snags us a beer each.

“What were you saying about me keeping my eyes open?”

“I had words with her fucking ages ago when we were going through the siege. I told her she’d never be more than a fuck and ’cause you admitted you didn’t keep your eyes open, I kinda drove it in, that she never would be. You know, I bet you don’t with Holly.”

Not once. Not that he needs to know that.

“Thanks, I think.”

“Like I said, I’ve got your back. Always.”

I drain half the beer and leave the rest on the bar.

“Light the place up tonight. Let’s fucking party.”

“Wow, Holly must have—”

“Finish that sentence and I’ll cut your tongue out,” I threaten.
