This is the last thing we need.

“Do you trust these bad feelings?”

It’s not like Zach to believe in this shit. Hell, I don’t even know why I’m entertaining her notion.

“The last time she said she had a bad feeling… India… died.”

The numbness I’m all too familiar with creeps up my legs and I sit down on the bench beside him.

Hitting the cigarette hard, I inhale until my lungs burn and for sure are coated with every poison the little stick offers.

“Our plans are tight. We’ve planned for slipups. We can’t lose.”

“I know that. I just think Nina got into my head.”

I get that.

“She’s just worried. It must be nice to have someone at home that doesn’t want you to die.”

“Every time I think she finally trusts I’m capable of handling myself, we end up taking ten steps back.”

“Once you’re home tomorrow night, she’ll be fine. Unless you smoke too much tonight and prove her right.”

He rolls the joint between his fingers and blows lightly on the cherry.

“It’s a weak one and my only one. I forget how much I miss it.”

“As long as you don’t get too fucked up.”

I stand and grind out my cigarette under my boot.

“Make sure everything is set and the brothers don’t drink too much. I want everyone up and ready to go at dawn.”

“Sure.”

Walking over to the house, I let myself in and check in on Rayna before opening Holly’s door. Sleeping on her side of the bed, I shake my head at the thought.Herside of the bed. I make my way across the room and start undressing. Sitting on the edge of the bed, I undo my boots and kick them off. A part of me is wounded she’s asleep. When I’m inside her, I forget everything and every part of me feels good. I need a piece of time to just be free from everything.

A soft, silky glove runs across my back and up and over my shoulder. Warm lips press against the bottom of my neck, and I close my eyes, my dick springing to life.

“Take your gloves off,” I instruct quietly.

Her hand slips from my back, and the mattress dips as she moves away. I don’t need to look over my shoulder to see she’s backtracked to her side of the bed. I whip my socks off and slide under the sheets, leaning on my forearm and looking down over Holly, who’s keeping her back to me. It’s cute how she thinks she can ignore me.

Tracing my finger over her shoulder, it hits me she was waiting for me, naked.

“When we’re alone here, and you’re touching me, I don’t want you wearing your gloves.”

“Why?” she chokes out.

“Because when we’re here in the dark, just the two of us, I don’t want anything between us. I don’t want you hiding from me.”

Her chest shudders with a sob and she buries her face in the pillow. Using my weight, I roll her around onto her back and slide my leg between hers before rolling on top of her. I pin her arms above her head and as she squeezes her eyes shut, I take her gloves off of her and toss them on the floor.

“Leo, please, don’t—”

Slamming my lips onto hers, I swallow every argument she wants to throw at me until her hips buck up toward me and she sweeps her tongue over mine.

Releasing one of her hands, I place it over my chest, not breaking the kiss. Her whimpers, mixed with repulsion and need for me, torment her. But I want her to see that with me, she doesn’t need to hide a single part of her.
