Myles throws a leftover bun at him, and JJ deftly dodges it. I sit, imagining what it would be like if Leo were here and if he were with me how JJ and Myles are with Harper and Emma. I reckon life couldn’t get any more perfect for me.

Chapter Nineteen

Leo

Aguard shoves me down onto a chair and my chains are cuffed to the link bolted down on the table. I’m in a room I haven’t been in before and since I’m not due to see a lawyer, my money is on Effie about to make an entrance. I’ve been expecting it, but I knew she’d take her time. When the door opens, I hear her heels tapping against the floor. My money was spot on the mark.

Her flat ass takes a seat opposite me and her flawlessly red-painted nails tap on the tabletop.

“How are you?” she asks.

“I’m fine. Thanks for the concern.”

“To be honest, I would’ve thought I’d have heard from you by now.”

“I haven’t been able to clear my diary. I’ll get my sectary to get straight on it,” I mutter sarcastically. “What are you doing here? If I haven’t rolled by now, you think I will now?”

“Let your club know they won’t ever get close to me. They’re wasting their time trying.”

“I can’t do much from here.” I shrug.

Her laugh grates on me. “We both know that’s a lie. Hey, how’s your nephew doing? My men tell me your daughter was reading to him at the park the other day while your nanny and sister had laid out a picnic.”

“Making underlying threats won’t change my mind.”

Underneath I’m seething, but I keep my shit together.

“No threats,” she smarms. “I don’t hurt children, not under any circumstances. You will come to your senses, Leo, and when you do, you’ll find that what I’ll offer you is much more beneficial to you and your club.”

“What is your offer, exactly?”

“Now that would be telling. First you agree, then I share.”

“That doesn’t sound right to me.”

“If you’re going to get into bed with a dog, it may as well be with the wolf.”

“I’m extremely careful who I get into bed with, and you lady, are not my type.”

She smirks. “I’m many men’s type, and I don’t think you’re an exception.”

What the fuck is happening here? She can’t be seriously coming on to me.

“If you’re hoping to get my dick hard, having me locked up isn’t going to help.”

She stands and walks around the table, stopping behind me. Squeezing my shoulders, she leans in close and whispers, “Your nanny is a beauty. Is she your type?”

I don’t answer her. Holly is not her business.

“Or do her hands put you off?”

Jerking her touch off of me, her laugh fills the room.

“Any deal we make could be more than beneficial. It could be fun.” She heads for the door and pauses. “I saw you have visitors coming in today. Talk it over with your dad. See what he thinks.”

She leaves, taking my agitation with her. Fucking bitch. One thing’s clear, Willow’s Peak needs to tighten up on security.

I’m led straight to the visitor’s room, and I keep my face passive, even though I’m looking forward to seeing my dad and brother and I’m pissed from Effie’s visit. I’ve spent my whole life around the club, seeing whomever I wanted, when I wanted, and it’s the worst part of being in here. Watching my back, keeping a constant lookout for trouble coming my way is nothing new. I’ve been doing that since I patched into the club, and I’ll continue to do so till my last day on this earth.
