“I don’t know, you’re still inside me. You could be delirious from your orgasm.”

Withdrawing from her, I roll onto my side and keep my legs entwined with hers.

“Stop making excuses to not answer me. You gonna give me an answer.”

“I’ll marry you.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.” She smiles.

“You know what being my wife will entail? What with me being the president.”

“I have a vague idea, but I’m in this with you. Nothing much scares me but the thought of losing you.”

“I fuckin’ love you.”

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Holly

The storm has passed when I wake and for a moment, I think I’m back at the cabin. When I open my eyes, I’m still in the motel and the warmth enveloping my body comes from the man who declared his love for me and asked me to marry him. This time yesterday, I had nothing and now, I have everything.

“Morning.”

Leo’s already awake and when I open my eyes, I find him watching me.

“Hey.”

He presses his lips to my forehead and holds me closer. I’m in no rush to leave the bed and I snuggle into his embrace.

“What happens now? Today? When we leave here?” I ask all at once.

“I need to go see Slade and Kristen. They deserve to hear about us from me before anyone else. But after that, we’ll head to the club and collect Rayna from Mom.”

“I feel bad for even thinking about leaving her,” I admit.

“Hey, she doesn’t know any different. She’ll never know.”

“What are we going to tell her?”

It was my last thought before I fell asleep last night, or the early hours of this morning.

“I don’t think we need to tell her anything. You’re all she knows, and she’s used to living with you. It’s not like much will change in that respect.”

His beard tickles the back of my shoulder and I wiggle until I’m on my back.

“How long have you been awake?”

“Not long.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“Not with you.”

He runs his fingertips along my jaw, and I lean into his touch.

“I was thinking about the future. When the houses are built, I want us to move into one of them. The cabin hasn’t been home for a long time. I thought it was, but I was wrong. It was because you were there. Now I’m president, the club needs me whole and present, but I can’t be if you and Ray are miles away in the middle of nowhere.”
