“So what’s going on there?” I ask, pointing off at Holly as she disappears into the house.

“Nothing you’re thinking, I’m sure.”

“You forget, I know you too well. I know when you’re lying,” I retort.

“Then you know I’m about to walk off now.”

I laugh, and fuck, it feels good to do so.

“Don’t be a baby, brother. If something’s going on, it’s no one’s business.”

“You’re right, and that includes you.”

“But thereissomething to know?” I push, knowing I’m either going to get an answer or a punch to the gut.

“It’s nothing,” he grumbles.

“She’s hot as fuck. Tell me you’re at least getting your dick wet.”

He looks uncomfortable, but I’m not ready to back down.

“Thanks for being so concerned about my dick, but there’s nothing to know, so drop it.”

Holding my hands up, I back up and chuckle when he says to Rayna, “Tell Uncle JJ to shut up.” Her little giggle tugs at my heart.

Walking out of the bar, Cas heads toward us and slaps Leo on the back.

“Hey, I spoke with Red Thorne,” I inform him. “Harper and the baby are doing well. And we’re having a boy.”

With a genuine smile, he reaches out and shakes my hand as Leo heads toward the house.

“A grandson. This is good news.”

“It really fucking is,” I agree. “And about yesterday, I shouldn’t have started shit with the Dead Rats, even if it did feel damn amazing.”

“It’s a new day.” He looks around, and when he turns back to me, his expression is serious. “Your bond with Leo’s been strong since you were both knee high, and it’s only gotten stronger. Him taking the gavel is no longer a dream of mine. The reality of it is coming, and he’s going to rely on that bond.”

“No matter what, I’ve got his back.”

“I know that, but it’s the balance you need to find between family and the club for you both to be at your strongest.”

“Harper accepts the club—”

“I’m talking kids and shit. Everything you have, keep it close.”

This is some heavy shit, so I ask, “Are you sick again?”

He laughs. “Nah, I’m good.”

“You’re talking like you’re dying or some shit.”

“Not sick. Just constantly thinking about the future, that’s all.”

“When in the future Leo takes the gavel, he won’t let you down, Cas. I don’t think he’d be much different from you, anyway.”

Working his jaw, he nods. “We’ll see.”

“Do you see this happening soon?” I dare to ask.
