Hadley nodded her approval. “Then you’re done!”

Willow took in a deep breath and before uploading the photo. Her finger hovered over the upload button, waiting for the perfect moment to make her profile live.

“Come on, you can do it.”

“What if nobody is interested in me?”

Hadley shook her head. “Don’t be ridiculous. One look at that profile, and the guys on here won’t know what hit them. You’ll have a ton of dates in no time!”

Plus, I promised Asher I would do this.Taking another long breath, Willow set her shoulders, looked at her sister, and smiled.

“Here’s hoping.” Tapping the Upload button, she saw the screen change, and in less than a minute, her profile was live.

“That’s it!”

Hadley’s eyes flared. “That was quick.” Reaching out, she squeezed Willow’s arm. “Promise you’ll let me know when you go on your first date.”

“I promise. Thanks for your help, Hadley.”

“I hope it works out for you. Maybe one day, I’ll give a speech at your wedding and tell the story of how we wrote this profile together!”

“Maybe.” Laughing, Willow got to her feet. “Something to drink?”

Hadley nodded. “That would be great—unless you have to go clear your chakras first?”

Laughter ran around the room, leaving Willow feeling much better.

“And…upload.”

Asher grinned back at his profile picture, tipping his head to look at it from an angle. All in all, he thought he’d done pretty well. His profile had only just gone live, but he’d spent most of the day on it.

The app worked by matching people—matches that could be accepted or ignored—but individuals could also scroll through the profiles and set up a date of their own.

Had Willow set up her profile yet?

Nervousness clamped his stomach. Typing in her name into the search box, Asher waited a moment until she finally appeared. The tightness in his stomach grew all the more as he looked at her profile.

She was absolutely stunning.

The picture she’d chosen was one of her at Charlotte’s wedding. Her hair had been curled, and the curls had tumbled down her back, practically glowing in the beautiful afternoon sunshine. Her eyes had been a vivid blue, matching the sky, and her smile had sent waves of longing into his core. Longing that ripped loudly through him all over again.

But he could never tell her. It would ruin everything they had and everything they had built over so many years. Asher had always told himself that if she ever gave him the smallest hint, he would be right there, ready to tell her everything. But given that she had been enthusiastic about the dating app, he figured there wasn’t even a single flickering hope for them anymore, and that wasn’t something he was ever going to allow himself to feel again. It was too painful.

The kick to his gut wasn’t something that Asher had expected, and he scowled, slamming the laptop shut with one hand.

A gentle rap at the door, followed by Willow’s voice, pulled him out of his frustration.

“Willow? Come on in.”

“I called you, but you didn’t answer. I didn’t realize you weren’t at home until I’d walked through the whole house calling for you!”

“Sorry, I’ve been busy. Wanted to get some extra work done.” That wasn’t completely true, but it was close enough.

Because they shared a house, the last thing Asher had wanted was for Willow to see him creating his dating profile. It had made more sense to come to the Camp Windy Lake office and upload it there. Getting to his feet as Willow walked into the room, he gestured to his now closed laptop.

“What sort of work? I didn’t think your parents wanted you to work this weekend.”
