Willow laughed, throwing her head back as Asher’s laughter filled the room. The next moment, she was in his arms again, and he was spinning her around and around, until she could barely think or feel anything but pure joy.

I’m going to be his wife. I’m going to be Asher’s wife.Closing her eyes, she sagged against him as he set her down. This is the most wonderful moment of my life.

EPILOGUE

“Oh, look, do you remember this?”

Willow smiled up at her husband. “How could I forget it?” Taking the little red box from Asher’s hand, she popped it open, looking down at the empty space where her engagement ring had once been. “I still get shivers sometimes when I think about it.” She found her fingers squeezing his hand gently. “Or maybe that’s just because I’m around you.”

Asher grinned at her, his eyes twinkling. “And you’re just as cute as ever.” Pulling her a little closer, he let his lips brush across her forehead. “You know how much I love you.”

“I do.” Tilting her head back, Willow waited for Asher to bend his head to kiss her, letting her fingertips skim along his jaw. She loved the way a single touch could make him catch his breath.

The baby kicked, and Willow jumped, laughing at the way Asher quickly stepped back. “Are you okay?”

His voice was urgent, but Willow reached out a hand, grabbing him before he could step any further away. He had both hands up, as though he was apologizing for kissing her, his eyes wide with concern.

“I’m fine! The baby just kicked, that’s all.”

Relief dropped Asher’s shoulders, and he rubbed one hand down his face. “Oh.”

“You can’t keep doing this every single time the baby kicks!”Although I love that you’re so protective already.Smiling, Willow reached out and took his hand in both of hers. “Here. It’s just your daughter getting ready to say hello.” His hand pressed lightly to her stomach. “Maybe this time you’ll get to feel her.”

Holding his hand over her gently swollen belly, Willow waited with breathless anticipation for the baby to move. Asher looked at her, his eyebrows pulling together and a tightness in his jaw that hadn’t been there before.

I’ve been feeling the baby move for so long,Willow thought silently, her eyes on Asher’s hand.Asher is desperate to feel it, too. He’s been so patient. Maybe now is—

“Oh!” Asher’s eyes suddenly flared, his mouth a circle. Willow laughed softly, and the baby kicked again, like it somehow understood that Asher was waiting.

“There you go.” Another laugh escaped as the baby kicked for the third time, and Asher suddenly closed his eyes.

“This is just incredible!” he whispered, his voice a little hoarse. “I can’t believe that soon, we’ll be a family. A family of three.”

“I can’t wait.” Putting her arms around him, she snuggled into him as best she could. “You’re going to be the best dad.”

“I hope so. I swear I’ll always try my best for her.”

Closing her eyes, Willow sighed happily. “This baby doesn’t know how lucky she has it, having you as her dad.” Tilting her head back against his shoulder, she let the happiness in her heart explode into a beautiful smile. “I’m grateful for you, Asher, every single day.”

His fingers brushed through her hair just by her ear, sending a shiver of delight down her spine.

“I’m thankful that you had the courage to kiss me the night of your mom’s party.” A slow smile spread across his face as Willow laughed softly, remembering that moment. “That triggered everything and brought us to where we are now.” Gently, he rubbed her stomach with his other hand. “We’re married, we’re happy, and we’re going to have a baby. Sometimes, I have to pinch myself to believe that it’s real!”

“I feel that way, too.” Leaning on him, she stood on tiptoe and kissed him again. “I love you so much, Asher.”

Asher rested his forehead lightly against hers. “I love you too, Willow. I always have, and I always will.”
