He made good on his statement and crushed her to him, reclaiming her mouth and kissing her with infinite tenderness, gently sucking, licking, and tasting.

She gasped at his smugness. “You expect me to—”
“Yes, babe. Say yes, please. It was chemistry at first sight. We can’t ignore it, right?”

His fingers brushed the nape of her neck, trailed over her cheek, and moved back and forth over her lips. “No, we can’t ignore our attraction. We’ll explore it together,” he whispered.
This man knew how to play with a woman’s heart and body. Her heart had closed years ago but her body could use soothing caresses. She swallowed hard at the thought of cuddling in his arms. “Captain Char—”
“Say yes, babe, please.” His hot lips seared a path of moist kisses over her throat.

She eased away and raised a hand to shield her mouth from the sweet assault of his lips. “Rafael, this is crazy. We just met a few hours ago.”
“Right, we need to get to know each other.” He released her and exhaled deeply. “All right, let’s do it the conventional way. Man meets woman. They like each other. Man takes woman out, and then they are allowed to kiss the way we did, correct?”
“Oh dear.” Was he making fun of her? She captured his gaze—a gaze glittering with desire, and she felt the chemistry to the pit of her stomach.
“Would you have dinner with me tonight? Actually, now?” He pursed his lips. “I just realized I’m starving. Shall we go?”
“To dinner? Yes.”
“I know a great Italian restaurant not too far from here that makes the best veal parmesan and lasagna. Call it a welcome treat.”
“Thank you. I would love to go.”
